Damn, I can never get any kills. I'm pretty sure SQUID1 is Ashcrack2002. Plays exactly like him. Congrats to all those who cupped. I really thought Sigma was going to pull out a cup there, then there was a string of kills that produced three majors. Crazy. Nice try again Sigma.

Slow, shitty tournament for me.



Snatched a kill for captain from a kid who was obviously trying to die to 2 other lieus in the mid left lake.

Immediately followed that up with sniping along the edge of the mob and got my kill for major there.

I knew I was going to cup at that point so I took my foot off the pedal and just kind of mosied around for the next 20 minutes.

Fun tourney, everyone trying their hardest on me although the persistent mobs on me a lot of the tournament did thwart my pph game a bit and fell back trying to recuperate my eq. oranges had some thirst. Started playing for major, didnt think Id get snuck at the end. I rightfully should have had silver, but made a bad choice in the end and went towards a group instead of singling off. GG to mustache for the sneak.

Gee i wonder who these squid fags are tho. Some shady deaths especially by them and a lot of legit deaths.

i drove around lagging people and then quit low several times with 9 shields and 0 fuel to elevate their anger even further. this strategy will be employed in the future until my laptop finishes updating (way too slow to do anything serious at the moment).

5:30 fill:




Definitely my best fill, my very first box was 4 ERs, lol. PPHing from there was lackluster. My Corporal kill got jacked like 5 times in a row so I had like 16k at Sergeant before I made Lieutenant. Made a late kill but I knew I wasn't really in contention at that point because I was having a hard time trying to find a competent person to PPH with.

Really disappointing, actually

Got an early kill on Weddley and made captain at like 20-25 min in, fill-fought really hard to keep my points up there, I was literally exchanging #3 / #4 places with Threads of Sincerity at 50 min in. I thought I had a shot to cup bronze at least at captain.

But then a string of deaths produced 3 majors in the last 5 min, and I fell to #5 with 5 min left. With no way to cup at captain, given 3 majors, I tried to go for a few kills, like IGF-1 (who was repeatedly low and probably lost a lot of shields), Snake Jailbird, WaRhEaD (clear newbie whom I couldn't deliver the last shot at).

PPH lagged in last 5 min, fell from #5 to #7, but that doesn't matter anyway without a kill.

A lot of stupid deaths, some of which looked very fishy. But I can't prove beyond reasonable doubt that any were free kills, though

Oh damn i didnt know you were lol. Glad to see you post it (im sure ive been out of the loop on this) You and Sig have been fun to watch when I play, definitely have been rooting for the both of you. Honestly since the gold cup was removed from that fucktard, you should be sporting a bronze cup on your tank right now. But I guess it's not gonna happen that way.

You took my Weddley kill! Had that guy trapped with mines and I couldn't get the last shot. I lagged and died as well with almost full eq. I'm just happy the person who killed me had no chance of winning...Singed

Sorry JDK! I had no idea! I had always kept his name in the back of my mind, because he has newbie awards and ranked up without filling in the beginning. I lost him for a while, but then when I saw him low, I just jumped in without looking at who else was there. What's worse is that I jacked the kill from you, and then wasted it by not cupping anyway!

A shout-out to lol for being with me up there in PPH for the later half of the tournament. You're really good for how many tries you've had (something like 10 or so?) You've accomplished what some veterans / experienced cuppers have, in about 1/10 of the time! I like how you decided to pause and take a picture of your recruit fill - that's really FUNNY!

I got outplayed by weekend nachos and wardizzle. I'm not as salty anymore now

And thanks for the encouragement Beaver. He came in and said "good job" / "congrats" after the Weddley kill. Didn't see him much for the rest of the tournament unfortunately...just a few scattered 1v1s and 2v1s that lasted only like 6 shots.

To be fair only a couple people knew who I was before yesterday. :p And thanks a lot man, I appreciate it. I have read all of yours and others encouraging words in the previous threads and it's been a big morale boost, so thanks. This whole tourney game is a blast, and a huge learning experience. I did cup in Battle-field but that was well over a decade ago so in a lot of ways this has been an attempt to cup for what feels like the first time, so getting the thumbs up from today's tourney beasts has been a huge factor in me continuing to try.

I saw you were trying to beast points at captain but given the enormous turn out of players and people dying left and right and it being Desert where mobs tend to get huge, I would have told you to go for a lieu kill a lot earlier (aka as soon as you made captain, had your sights on major). With your PPH I think you would have been fine at major no matter how many people ranked to major.

Anyway, nothing went right for me haha. Had a good fill, killed some serg when I was still a serg (sadness), then missed kill shot on SQUID1 as he died to a mine right after my homer, then it kind of went downhill in terms of snagging kills. Was pretty much top lieu until last 10 min, when I really went hard for kills, but after the third player ranked to major, was just teleporting around for fun.

You are right, man. I should not have waited until the last 5-10 min to try for an LT kill to make major. I used to think that people don't die in Desert because it's a wet map with lots of fuel and equipment, but like you said, with today's huge turn-out and massive mobs, that should have been my strategy all along.

I don't really have issues with PPH anymore. It's always been about the kills. Slowly learning map awareness and strategy on major vs. high PPH captain...slowly, but surely....

Definitely wasn't my intention to amass pts at lieu. Literally was at the scene for 6-7 kills and missed em all. Oh well, can't get lucky every tourney!
