Embarrassing facts related to BF/TP

Postby SW » Sat Jul 26, 2014 10:06 pm

1. When I got my first DTT in BF, I backed it up on 2 floppy disks and hid them in my bedroom.
2. My bank PIN, which I haven't changed in about 10 years, is BF-related.

True facts about yourself only in this thread. :ninja:

there are a lot of words/phrases that i might look at in every day life and automatically see them in a color that i think would look best as if they were a bf/tp tank, blue, red, orange or purple.
i don't see words in any other colors but those 4 cause of battlefield(unless the word itself has a specific font color that i have no choice to see) and have had this sensation all my life since i started playing bf in 1998, and even still experienced this in the downtime between battlefield and utanks.

not really embarrassing, but a pretty neat phenomenon

This is really strange, man. Are you sure there's nothing wrong with the cones in your eyes? Am i reading this right that when you read a book, you see all the words in either red, blue, orange, purple? What color do you see this as

As for me....
If i have to describe where something is to somebody, I will use phrases like, "top left", "mid right", etc. Not sure if this is the normal way people describe locations, but bc of bf that's how i do it.

It's terrible for me...

[Watching the Simpsons, sees Homer Simpon drinking Duff beer...] "Why isn't he in a sandbox, in the middle of a crowd of people, giving middle fingers with both hands? And why isn't his name in purple?"

[Talking about cardio endurance work outs vs. strength weight training] "Endurance should be in all capital letters, and in red, you dumb ass!"

[Eating nacho appetizers with friends] "Hey, this cheese is actually orange and it's a weekend!" [Friends look at me weird]

[Watching the Simpsons, sees Krusty the Clown] "Where is his stash of 50+ cups? Back stage?"

[At the shoe store...] "ADIDAS...Converse...Puma...OH SHIT FIVE TEN BRAND! FiveTen!"

I have used the password ssvfan for multiple things. (don't try hacking me because that's not my pw on anything now lol)

When I played it on playbattlefield, I would check if I got passed on the top 25 list during biology class when I was a sophomore in hs.

I used to write possible tank names and awards combos in a notebook when bored in class.

Gnarls Barkley - Crazy reminds me of when I lived at my dads and played because I would have MTV playing in the background on my tv and they had that song on at least 50 times a day.

I think I lived strictly on a hot pocket diet when I was climbing the top 25 of Crazy Maze.

When I was 11 and first came upon the game and reached the rank of colonel, I pronounced it as Col-on-nel.

When I got my first bronze tank award, on the bonus days, as Super Saiyan Goku, I ran downstairs and told my grandma..

My computer desk when I lived at my dads was a outside plastic table with a not so comfortable lawn chair and pillow. I rustied my tank playing on that ghetto ass setup.

Oh, how far I have come..

all this happened last year.

I used to shut my entire computer off when I was qling in bf. I used to think appaloosa land was Alphonso Land.

First cup I won in bf I told everyone I knew.

First gold cup I won in utanks after the wait from bf I punched the table out of jubliation so hard that my computer shut down and started making a weird noise.

Seriously everything SSV said I basically did as well

checking stats/playing for 5 mins BEFORE school
tank names/ award combos
hearing words/phrases and associating them to colors
I would skip dinner with my family to play even if I was starving
Col-on-nel
being WAY too excited getting my first sword/cup/general

when i read about something cool, hear lyrics, anything with a name / phrase I like. I automatically think tournament tank, i have compiled a list that has like 300 names..

Also in other aspects of life for some reason when i think of an idea, in the back of my head "im like this would get me a LB"

Thats about it though, or maybe that porn orgies are just a girl taking a raid.

when my dad discovered battlefield was back and the main map was iceland in the rotation last december, i created him a ccid and he played it for a little while and i told him that map was terrible in battlefield and it's even more terrible in tankpit. he called me a faggot and said i just didn't know how to play the map. (which is true, i got no clue how to play iceland)

he ultimately quit out after like 30 minutes of driving around on land and water unable to find equipment cause of how bad the game is with equipment, especially in iceland. he hasn't played since cause of how bad equipping in this game is and didn't like how the maps rotated around randomly. he also didn't like it when i told him if he killed me in a raid it would be meaningless cause of the thing sunwolf implemented to prevent using two computers on the same isp or something.

my mom just sat there and didn't give a fuck either way, she was watching football.

When I was little I used to think the BF ranks were the exact ranks the military used and would use the same ranks and order whenever I played army or some military related game (no idea about the difference between officers and regular grunt soldier, and no idea about first/second lt, major generals, etc. etc.).

I've ended up using the cheesy name "003", which originated in BF for me, as my name in most of my other games I've played. Not all luckily.

I thought I was the shit when I got my first single star in BF.

I would spam WYD and other things after running to the water and being a water baby.

I typed like a stuck up wannabe gangster on forums when I was young.

Some of the same things others have mentioned as well: was ecstatic with my BF accomplishments, think of good tank names/tourney names, etc.

legit tho, if anybody is familiar with the Budd Dwyer story in the late 80s, my mom is one of the people that called the pennsylvania treasury trying to find out about some money issue that was going on which ultimately led to the investigation into his bribery scandal that led to his public suicide. she refuses to talk about it any further than that because of how bad she feels about it. :O

the song "hey man nice shot" by filter is about budd dwyer lol

I thought about printing a screen shot but then realized how incredibly nerdy that would be.

Other than that it's the same as anyone else. Very happy to get my stars swords etc. thought I was cool when I started messaging a Chinese guy on msn (thien) and bragged about it to some friends.

1. I skipped a lot of classes in college to to sleep because I played BF until 4 or 5am when the action was good, sometimes even later.
2. I created Crazy Waters in between entering cases at work.
3. When I talk about BF/TP to someone irl, it feels like I'm talking about a secret fight club that I shouldn't be talking about.
4. I drove 5.5 hours to Albany, NY to meet up with Josh Pawlik (Savin Ryann) about a business venture.

I'm not really embarrassed about the last one. I put it down anyway because it's pretty radical. Josh is the only person I've ever actually met in person.

A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing he cares more about than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature who has no chance of being free, unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.
