missed it

PRIDE

in the grand scheme of things you really didnt miss much of anything---
SW clear this up please....is it or is it not in a persons right to call on themselves in a tournament?
My personal take on the situation is; if a person cannot finish or does not think his/her chances in the tournament are motivation enough to finish why shouldn't they allow themselves the chance to be raided if they choose to do so. How is it not sporting to possibly give another player the chance to win the tourny as well?
Best part of it all is that these people who have won multiple useless cups think that their theories on the game should be enforced and that other, less advanced players should conform to their ways of thinking...lol

Tragic last night is a PERFECT example why that you shouldn't call on yourselves to take raids. 3 newer / less advanced players ranked to captain. When there are more kills present, and people die down, or call a raid on him, that gives players like myself, PD, lance, rev and other current top players in tournaments more chances to jack a kill and cup again. The less kills in tournaments forces new strategics to get kills and when the stars align and a new guy gets a kill and there arent many to pass around they can cup on ranking alone. BUT since players like you and black dragon now, who think it's okay to call on yourself / die 2x in a tournament, you're actually aiding in the consistent tournament cuppers giving them more chances to rank.
Either way you've taught BD well Tragic, quitting low and dying more than once in tournaments is something you're very good at. You've cost me a couple cups now via q low.

See bro the only thing your arguing here is that you think if you get top pph then you should win, and that's just not how tournaments have worked for years. Don't get me wrong though having top pph in a tournament is very commendable. It's something I haven't done since BF days, but PPH + Kill = Win and to me that's the most fair way. Also the new guy needs a cup thing is fake still, cause like I said before if you wanted them (NEW PLAYERS) to cup then you guys wouldn't play every tournament and cry when you don't win.
This is not me defending calling raids on yourself in a tournament but is there a difference between getting mobbed and dying , and clicking come get me and getting mobbed and dying, cause in reality a person doesn't need to call on themselves to get raided?
I can see why it could be considered dying on purpose and all I have to say on that is just disable it because you don't have to click come get me to get raided in a tournament anyways, to me it doesn't matter if someone wants to take a raid then so be it.

let me simplify this, you should be playing a tournament to try to win, not to take raids. taking raids is not how you win a tournament, and you can't win a tournament taking raids. ie. it's an unnescessary death from somebody that gave up and shouldnt even be in the tournament anymore, ultimately changing the results for somebody that snagged a legit kill and potentially fucking them out of what they earned and giving it to somebody who got a lucky free kill.
if you give up, leave. if you don't give up, keep trying to win. don't throw your rank away to some random in a raid because you decide you can't win anymore.
that is why it's frowned upon, and that's why it's considered faggot behavior. it's the same as just free killing somebody, because you WILL die in a tournament raid if you're actually taking. there's simply too many people on you in shitty depleting map conditions to survive a mob of that magnitude, even if you don't shoot back ever, you will slip up eventually from the sheer amount of players mobbing you and fake fuels/dryness of the map.

You obviously don't understand anything about me. I came from being a kills-oriented player because until HTML5 came out I was lagging too much to keep up with any of the top 5 players a lot of times. I'd get there but holding on to it id flop and get out placed because of the map 2 -1 moving me. When my lag finally minimized i realized my full potential in tournaments, but i still keep my kills mentality.. Go look at people talking about top tournament players early in tp2. I was cupping mainly because I was finding my way to major. In TP1 I would have had 15 cups total had there not been that british fuckboys continuous cheating coupled with the non stop die downs. If people played legit then lesser skilled players would have better chances, hands down.
I dont pph to wait for kills at the end of the tournament, I hunt my kills as i fight throughout the tournament, its called map awareness. If you want to talk about BF standards then you came to the right place, how I was brought up was completely different than 80% of these players. I don't think if you have top pph you should win, I HAVE EXPRESSED THIS BEFORE ->> KILLS win the tournaments over all. I'm arguing that if there is less kills then the top pph players will have less chances to win, as will the over all map, but if a newbie gets a kill and there was only 2 kills the whole tournament then their chances of winning skyrockets. Be it gold or silver, or bronze if theres a third kill.
I like how its the argument that I of all people should stop playing tournaments. Thats fucking hilarious since I play them fairly and with no advantages and still outplace your bitchmade teammates who circle jerk with each other the whole tournament. When you have yourself surrounded by cheaters and shady fucks, you're pointing the finger at the wrong person who should stop playing them.
REGARDLESS. Tournaments bring the highest competition and I was a newbie who could never cup and i learned how to win via good mentors. Look at Sigma, lol, SimplyElite and so on, new guys in the same place who start to find what works for them to win and they will start cupping sooner than you think. If theres no bar set, no competition to overcome, no player will ever grow and everyhting just gets handed out. Which is bullshit. Achievements are earned. This is why I cant respect anyone who has their cups won for them. We all put the trials and time in, free handouts are for pussies.

Well to simplify it unprovoked or provoked a raid in a tournament can happen regardless of clicking come get me or not. So it doesn't matter at all, because if a person gets raided without clicking come get me in a tournament and dies then what does that make him a faggot to? Whats the alternative to not taking a raid lets see we have Running/Marathoning - frowned upon also considered faggot behavior, Then we having Qing - frowned upon also considered faggot behavior, Last we have dying - frowned upon considered faggot behavior, I guess if you don't outlast a raid on you in a tournament your just a fag. Some boss ass logic bro. Its really a empty argument, so people shouldn't complain about it.

Yo bro you totally misspelled some words there ill fix it for you though cause I'm nice like that. Nachos - "outplace your great teammates who kick ass the whole tournament. When you have yourself surrounded by greatness and professionalism, you're pointing the finger at the right person who should stop playing them. ". I have to say nachos with all the bullshit you come up with those are just some nice words to say about the Simpsons and on their behalf I Thank You

because clicking come get me signifies youre calling a raid on yourself. which you should never do in a tournament.
dying in a random mob, you're just bad to get caught like that and shouldnt win anyway.
you're supposed to run away from mobs in tournaments. tournament morals are different than main map morals. it's perfectly acceptable to run away from a raid in a tournament because 9/10 times they won't stick to you and go back to cluster fighting until a new target pops up.
dying isn't considered faggot behavior in a tournament if you don't die on purpose. (calling a raid on yourself is on purpose, so if you die in it, and you will, you will have died on purpose, making you a faggot) if you die by accident getting caught off guard or turned on real quick by everyone, then not a faggot, just had bad luck and died a legitimate and unfortunate death, unless you're confident you can still cup, you should leave after your first death and just try again next time.
marathonning/running in a tournament is perfectly fine in a tournament and not in the main map, because you don't want to die in a tournament if you want to win, and dying in the main map literally doesn't matter at all, so if you're gonna participate in killing players, it's expected you take your own deaths when the time arrives, or you're a faggot in the main map. deaths in tournaments should be random and unorganized in chaos and snagged by the players smart enough to keep persuit.
quitting low in a tournament and in the main map are both equally faggot shit, more-so in tournaments actually. because if you quit out because you couldn't handle being bad and didn't know how to escape with your life using skill and resort to faggot methods as leaving the game entirely, you fuck someone out of a kill that someone shouldve gotten.
i can't believe i have to explain this to so-called "veterans" i barely even play tournaments

nobody is about to be called a faggot for dying in a tournament (it happens), marathoning (valid strategy) or being raided and dying (usually they don't stick unless you're trying to be a target or have died already). can't say I agree with quitting on low fuel but I wasn't there to see it so whatever
anyway this shit hurricane has outlasted the point being made. I'm sure it won't happen again, let it be
is this even a moderated forum?

because as long as people keep doing it, people are going to keep bringing it up.
that's the point of these threads, to call out gay shit people do. the tournament section is in the most basic form, a flaming and naming/shaming section.
im simply explaining why these things are considered bad in tournaments and not in the main map to anybody that happens to read it.
i couldn't care less who cheats or plays like a faggot in tournaments, i don't really play them so they don't effect me. lol
edit. also it's true! no bullshit! my hands get all shaky and my arms turn spaghetti! i get so scared i pee myself!

Simpsons don't stay on any chat or aim for that matter during tournaments so calling us "bitchmade" and saying we are "circle jerking" each other is just mularky. But hey I understand that with you the salt runs deep
Sherman: I don't understand why you just make an effort to win a cup if you want. Imo you're a decent player and have the same chances as pretty much anyone else.
Best tip I have in lieu of tournaments: Don't sweat it just do what it takes to win it. That and keep shooting lol

Ya i mean those calculated fks that used to happen every tourn were 100% coincidence right? With how yall hang around each other and magically show up on my ass when im #1 in map across multiple colors, hard pressed to believe its just allllll coincidental.

My simplified take on tournaments: Always be playing to achieve the lowest # possible. Period.

grunching this thread (not reading this shit behind this point) but taking raids is a fine line and it could go both ways. if youre the guy who wins 1 out of 20 tournaments and takes a raid in the other 19 (and of course die the maximum amount of times) then you have no place in tournaments until your step your game up. if youre the guy who looks at a mob in a tournament as a challenge and are thoroughly disappointed when you die than taking raids isnt really that bad. an example would be tankpit 1 eldawg, who was an easier target then newbs then the biggest newbs, because he challenged himself often. a better example would probably be kacy from utanks. somehow, he got targeted every tournament, took the mob, and rarely ever died (maybe like 1-12). in this instance, the mob has to actually work for the kill and comes up short. in the former example, the guy taking a raid is doing no more than teleporting a couple times and letting their armors get owned. two different situations.
tldr; if youre only taking the raid to die gtfo, if youre taking the raid to survive then its a strategic element to tournaments (my gold on p5 in utanks, sean gave up his running in a 2 hour at about 1:30 to take on a mob of people craving a captain kill (of course they didnt kill him)
nothing is black and white.

That is the very thing i was doing when i called that raid on myself was for the challenge not because i thought i would die or the fact that i didnt care. As previously posted by the rev about how i was doing in that raid if anyone read it would have understood that. I died to a homing from fake fuel and being out of er's. I will however apologize for the lowq should have went to restroom leaving the tank their to die while i went since i was trapped and low. But i did in fact have every intention of coming back and if the players were still there take the death that was coming.
And lets have that be the end of it. learned from this dont drink and play tournaments in tp.

calling a raid on yourself isnt very natural. thats basically an announcement of death. nobody who wants to survive calls onto themselves.

true but honestly if i wouldn't have ran out of er's they would not have killed me. the way i looked at it was whats the fastest way to get pp i just recently died so if i call a raid on myself they will all come and i don't have to chase anyone for points. It being maze the person being raided has the advantage since 2-3 people max can shoot duels at you. where i am in a better spot to shoot anyone with duels. But in the end that didn't work out in my favor lol.

I would love to take raids in tournaments. It would be fun, right? The most intense raids take place in tournaments. I bet taking them feels awesome.
But why should I consider all the fun I would derive from taking a raid to be more important than the hard work that the players in positions 1, 2, and 3 have already done to earn their spots? If I die, I'm being unfair to everyone that has already ranked, especially those that ranked by deactivating someone who was trying their darndest to survive. If I take a raid, I'm making a decision that could throw the integrity of the final results into question, because my death wasn't 100% incidental. If I take a raid, I'm possibly allowing somebody to score a kill that didn't happen by complete accident, because I wasn't trying my hardest to survive - I was taking a raid. I'm making a decision that could bump somebody else out of a cup, for my personal satisfaction and nothing more. I'm taking a chance that is inherently selfish.
Before anyone says otherwise, especially because it came up last time: there is no universe in which taking a raid and making a full effort to survive go hand in hand. The notion of such a thing is illogical - taking a raid incurs a heightened risk of being deactivated to begin with, and it's something we make a conscious decision to do. Making a conscious decision to increase our risk of death is not playing to survive. 99% of the time, when a tournament raid forms on us it is in our best interest to run away and shake the raiders off. And as most of us know - unlike the main map - in a tournament this is considered proper, commendable strategy.
It's pretty... reckless I would say, to consider taking a raid/mob in a TankPit tournament. This isn't uTanks where apparently a 10+ mob was the only way to deactivate a good player; it's much, much more difficult to survive one in TankPit. To all of us that have a desire to take raids in TankPit tournaments, myself included: it doesn't matter how high your opinion of your own raid-taking abilities is, the bottom line is that you are making yourself liable to die. When you die, you also sacrifice the integrity of the results for everyone that earned kills on those who made a full effort to survive. Chancing it is never worth it.
We should all really, really just enjoy tournaments for the competition they already provide. There is nothing more we need to seek than the thrill of chasing gold, silver and bronze. Seriously, tournaments are so much fun before raid-taking even enters the conversation: what more could we want out of them? Are tournaments really so boring to us that we need to be taking raids in them, too? Perhaps we only get bored when we know that we have already lost. Perhaps it is then that we are most likely to decide to take a raid, to salvage some fun from an hour of our lives that is otherwise considered lost - unless you really had fun, that is.
One could go on to make a case that players that think taking raids in tournaments should be permissible don't truly enjoy tournaments for what they are, but I think I've said enough. You guys should learn how to enjoy tournaments ;)

maybe tournaments need to give incentive to finish without the possibility to place top 3.
some sort of points/credit/reward system where 25th gets 1 point and 1st gets 25 points etc. add multipliers for consistently placing top 10/5/3/2/1 and it creates an interesting dynamic and gives reason to go hard to the very end.
i think this is the future tankpit should head in, keeping game play the same but adding incentives and rewards for playing.
