Higher ranks earn more points in tournaments
This would change the dynamics so the common strategy nowadays "pph till the end then get FKs" would no longer be the most effective.
Another option would be to increase the fuel and EQ at the end instead of decreasing it, to make dying at the end less likely.

I like the first idea. It might lead to a lot of questionable kills in the first half of the tournament but I think its worth a try. People will go for kills and it'll be mass chaos with there being a higher distribution of wins among the playerbase.
The second idea, on the other hand, will lead to more pphing, less kills and more repeat winners (top pphers).

I'm lost.
Explanation?
Are we saying (basically) that as you progress through the ranks you would somehow benefit from remaining as high a rank obtainable by offering a "points incentive" for each rank as you climb? Would a lieutenant fighting a sergeant accrue more points than the inverse? Excuse me if I'm lost here.

Could easily back fire imo. Free kills will happen very early on, so they can run away with the lead. with the way it currently is, at least they'd still have to be at the top of their game to place, considering they don't reach major.
Still think tournaments with random end times is best option

even when someone ranks to captain they tend to get good pph because people want to fight the highest ranked person and so doing this would make early kills even more of a snowball effect

its usually the opposite for this exact same reason. everyone wants to shoot a capt, so everyone does, and the capt get worst pph because they get chased by small groups and always targeted.

for example say im in a fight like that. and im a lieut, and there are 2-3 people shooting at the captain. i may shoot at the lieut after getting a couple shots in on the captain then the rest of my shots will go into other people, allowing the captain to get shots back in aswell since the tanks will shoot each other while the captain gets fuel or goes off screen to snipe.
eventually people may break off and most of the time a captain would only fight 2 other tanks, which is good pph. depending on the map, if desert, fighting 2 tanks is godlike pph. or a water map like iceland and you have a ferry, godlike pph. and of course it depends on the player experience in 2v1ing. 3v1ing if it happens these days explains why tournament players these days are probably bad. 3v1ing a captain makes no sense. it should somehow end up a 2v1v1 if its 4 people. with 1 tank shooting at one of the others who is shooting the captain which is pretty much a 2v2.
if people are out there 3v1ing captains then ok then. tankpit players play this game because they lack any kind of common sense. thats all

Interesting idea. I think it will give to much advantage to the people who get early kills though. I already find that when I get an early kill, PPHing is easier because I don't have to track players - I can just beast out points. If this were to be implemented, I think we would see the 2-4 players who make captain early - run away with the tournament.
I like the more fuel and EQ at the end though.

This was true in my experience as well. I think an early kill is already a huge advantage exactly for that reason.
I haven't thought the idea in the OP all the way through, though.
It was mostly a facetious idea, but I'll continue thinking of ways to deter FKs at the end.
