this sounds great and it will create an activity wave for sure. a player could be better judged with stats like this shown. i am totally against the stat decay proposition however. no time spent playing should ever just get erased. just doesn't seem like the right thing to do, and i really am not just saying this because i have a spot in the top 25. i feel like eldawg would agree with me here. he was prob one of the guys invited to this secret discussion, and feel like he would agree with me here. if he wasnt one of the invited players SW, idk who else would be more worthy to speak with this game's devs tbh.
this would also be the perfect time to implement number points back into the game as well. to see what each sub-category actual points payoff.

I wasn't part of the discussion, however, I am all for a variety of leaderboards, but, would not be in favor of stats decay. Definitely agree with Hurley on that point. The fact that I could go inactive for a period of time then come back and pick up where I left off is something I like about the current system. I don't think it would be right for someone such as Kyle, should he ever decide to play Elegance again, to have to essentially start from scratch on that tank. End my 2 cents.

There's something the 'reset the map stats every year' discussion didn't touch upon: starting a tank and being literally thousands of #s down from the guys up top. That's a lot more interesting and humbling place to start the game from rather than the first few months where simply having a general puts you in the top 25.

SW wrote:* The game is currently built around a sole leader-board concept. When you press 'T' you get the overall top25, and when you press 'C' you get overall stats for your tank.
Possible solution 1:
* Leave it showing "overall" in game.
- I don't like this because it gives too much weight to the overall list (which is an ever-harder to breach mountain of points) and disconnects the other leader-boards from the game.
Possible solution 2:
* Allow users to configure which leader-board they want to track in their game settings. Example: If weekly is selected, pressing 'T' will show the weekly top 10.
- Default could be weekly, monthly, yearly, or could vary depending on your amount of play time.
- Continue showing "stats at current rank" under 'C'?
Possible solution 3:
* Somehow decay stats in the game so that the "overall" list is not a forever growing, insurmountable mountain of points.
- Unlikely to be popular with players who want their stats to last forever, but if you think about it it's not much different than making, say, "yearly" leader-board the default one.
Didn't read the rest because I'm kind of busy, but how about a combination of #2 and #1?
You could have a hotkey dedicated to players selecting which leader board they want displayed while keeping T as overall.
Both metrics are something people would be interested in so why compromise?
For instance, make Y an option of a moving cumulative sum of points over time t. If someone wants weekly stats, they can select that from the config page and the stats will display a 7 day cumulative sum of points with day 1 = t0 = baseline established at 12:00AM EST. In other words, for the weekly case, after 11:59:59 on a given day, the first data point is replaced by the previous t1 (2nd day in the metrics). You won't have a perfect 168 hour leader board ever but this makes the most sense to me.
