Prevent new/anonymous tanks from tournaments
I see a lot of players requesting this, so it's worth discussing.

well All of the elites keep maing new tanks so that they can cup on. if this is implemented it will decrease elites making new takes just to cup and give lower skilled players more of an chance, thats if the elites don't play on their mains anyway. It Quite possibly decrease turnny participation but at the same time give other players a chance to cup
My personal feelings I really don't care about how tournaments are played and who plays in them New or Old tanks.

I like a bronze cup on my tank, tyvm.
Any hour or prior award requirement will only result in players laming hours to pay lip service to it
Really, new players just hate it because they somehow think that experienced players wouldn't be playing tournaments if they couldn't create new tanks for them

If I cup a tank, I intend to play it some day and have a track record from BF that backs up that statement. If I weren't allowed to cup a bunch of different tanks and actually had to play them before cupping, I wouldn't be as motivated to put them in the field. Granted I'm not going to be shinering 14 tanks, however, I would like the tanks I take raids on to have
and
, just for instance.
I never did understand cupping 36 different tanks that never see any action, but, that's people's choice. I don't really see anything wrong with it.

10 hour minimum on tanks for tournaments seems suitable to me.

Or better yet, split up tournaments.
Call them leagues. Beginners league and Elite league. Sort of like practice versus main map.
Beginners league is for people whom have under 3 cups or so. That way the competition is "easier" and more of a level playing field. People who reach the limit, get promoted to elite league and can only play those tournaments, with all the big boys, where the competition is more fierce.
To stop faggots who will try to get around this, track the IP's to the accounts. That way any new account made, and tanks made on that account, are linked to the IP, and whether another they fall into the beginners league, and elite league.
Also a stupid idea i just thought of, since the beginners league is gonna be a lot easier, why not set it up on a points / best of system. When players place top 3, they get 3, 2, or 1 points. that rolls over to next time they place, and is added on.
So if I win first place, 3 times, I get a gold cup, second place 3 times, silver, and 3rd 3 times for bronze.
Then you have missed match finishes. Let the point system fall like this:
Points: 9-8 =
, 7-5 =
, and 4-3 =
, tallied up after 3 podium finishes.
Course you'd have to decide how long a finish is good for, say after 1 month, it all resets?
Actually would be kinda neat to see this idea implemented onto the elite tournaments as well.

No matter what I say it's gonna sound biased, but I don't see how disabling people playing random tanks is better for tournaments? Those same people are still going to play on their mains over and over and win the same cups regardless. But for people like ENDURANCE, RESILIENCE and others who want to keep their cups other than gold on their mains, they would now have to put in hours on a tank just so they can enjoy a tournament, which are obviously the most competitive and arguably most fun aspect of the game? Seems a bit ridiculous to me and counterproductive.
Nothings going to change other than just seeing people playing their main tanks over and over, or people making a single tournament tank that they put the hours necessary in in main map then repeating to play it over and over.

Nope. For so many reasons.
1. Look at some of the tourney results recently. (ex. http://tankpit.com/tournament_results/?tid=251 )
Now take out all the tanks with less than 10 hours, or whatever restriction you may apply. red-1 would have likely finished 13th or 14th place overall.
2. I personally would not be able to make a tank name 2 minutes before the tournament and cup it first try, like I typically do. Not sure who else likes the do this, but there has to be many.
3. Competition would be on a lower level and it would actually make it easier for those people who have tourney experience to beat out the noobs when there are generally fewer experienced players in the tournament. You up the experienced players odds tremendously. Even I'll admit since coming back in February, tourneys have been too easy to cup already. It's no mystery why. Look at all the top tourney players who haven't participated lately. Sean doesn't play, Kirby rarely does, BG is gone(I think), cujo doesn't play too often, nachos plays now and then, The Rev plays less, and I've only played a small few recently.
4. What about a brand new player making a tank? He plays a few hours on it in main map, sees there is a tournament the next day, and wants to see what it's all about. But now he can't.
Maybe 5 hours on a tank in main map, but I still don't like the idea at all.

I like the idea of making a new tank name and playing it for a tourney. It gets me being creative and humorous. Yes it is hard for newer players or inexperienced players to win a cup, but thats the point. Its a tournament. Discouraging experienced players from playing tournaments would only devalue the award of a cup. I like the idea of their being a separate league, but there isn't enough player base right. Maybe some of the newer players that are discouraged would go back and try, but you'd have people that can go around the IP tracking make a new account and ruin those tournaments for those people.

Sorry, I didn't get a chance to read your post before I posted my reply.
That's not a bad idea. There would still be really small tournaments going on, albeit separated by a skill category. In this case, 2x as many tournaments would have to be scheduled. Or you schedule them at the same time and the "elites" get into their tourney and new players enter their tourney separately.
I'm leaning more toward sticking to tradition on this front. I think all the new updates, awards, and improvements will bring new players, which I can tell it has, and bring back some older players. Hopefully tournaments will be back to their full force all the time soon. It feels so much better to win against 30 people than against 15.

I share this view. I still get an adrenaline rush in the last two minutes when I know I'm going to win. If the competition isn't there then what's the point?

Thirded. We all learned that way, who's to say others can't? And tbh it's probably easier now than BF was by a long shot for newer players to win a cup. It's obvious some players are really starting to get a grasp on it, ViperZ13, SimplyElite, even AOC DP whos died a lot recently, has now quit out after dying once, but still tries and has made captain. Blastem came through.
Hindering the tournaments player base over something so minimal doesnt make any sense. The more people the higher the competition. Its painfully boring with only like 15 people in the tournament.

Can't see anything working until enough new players flock to the game and you can add a few newcomer tournaments into the rotation.

The only way I see something working is having everyone with anonymous names, and if they finish top 3 they can decide what tank to put it on.
