Re: Open to ideas
Being as this is a turn based game what would the community think on adding a option to cancel the use of a turn? IE you click to move across screen to get some equipment but another teammate moves there first pushing G would cancel that move you were going to do. Guess it might not matter to people who have low pings but some of us higher ones would like to cancel shooting that spot twice :X

give away free Mickey D's coupons for the winners of the tournies---
but seriously give us a general map schedule so we don't have to be bothered with not knowing what map is up and so on.
I know you'll just ignore the piss out of this but might as well throw the shit out there

Why don't we take it a step further and have multiple maps now? This roation thing is getting kind of old.

Not enough players for multiple maps. Finally opened the practice map, though.
More importantly, perhaps, need to figure out what to do with the stats:
1. Give them to one map.
2. All maps use same stats.
And what to do with stats over time:
1. Let them build forever.
2. Some sort of system where stats decay or are reset or combined or so forth.

bro if you make stats decay, you basically break the game
you wanna go down that road, might as well add bens auto-tele for equip proposal and half of the other dumb shit in this thread, because none of it will matter compared to the damage stat decay would do.
also, rofl, if I was andy or kevin you better believe I would re-open utanks a few months after stat decay digs its claws in and try to drop final release or something. same thing applies to anyone who would be looking for an opening to drop another game, etc
don't be a dumbass lol

Not saying stats are going to decay, just that the ever-growing barrier to the top 10 is an inherent problem with the game.

It is a problem that will always exist when there is only one map. People will end up dumping 1k+ hours into the game and the top25 will basically be untouchable after _ amount of months simply because there is no where else for players to dump there time into. The only thing you can do to try to combat only have the top 25 for promotion points would to have one for kills, cups one, etc. The lack of multiple maps will just keep biting you in the ass in terms of the top25 becoming unobtainable after a certain time.

How would the top 25 be unobtainable? Desert was around from 2001-2007 and people started tanks in 2006 and made it to the top 25 in that map. Rocks was around even longer and there were several tanks, Frosty owning one of them, beasted through the top 25 and 10 in that map. People just have to put their time and effort in. Using effort loosely here since we're talking about clicking and hitting keys on a keyboard.
In my opinion, after firing away in practice for an hour today, I think a main permanent map (desert or rocks) should have the current stats and Top 25, and a map rotation should have a fresh start, or vice versa. Either way, I think the time for adding a map is near, in my humble opinion.

In all games there are players that separate themselves from the pack on the leaderboards. Why should they be punished for committing? The most rational way to combat this is to have daily/monthly leaderboards. These particular leaderboards would have the "true" top 25 for that month rather then who's just ranked.

Invalid argument if the players were on X5. You were like 2-3x more efficient on X5 then those guys who grinded it out on site.

I don't think they should be punished for committing, I don't have a problem with any of it. If it stays one map forever and you need to put 1k hours in to get to top25 so be it imo doesn't really bother me. I do like the idea of a weekly/monthly/yearly/all time top25.

how about top 25 lists for all maps that include:
1) Make a world top 25 list
2) top 25 for map rotation time (if you keep map rotation)
3) top 25 list of people that made #1 during a rotation
that could be a great idea for new awards such as the ribbon in different color variations

Regardless, the site we have now is pretty efficient if you ask me. This coming from a guy who just died twice filling, lol. Even if you were on x5, cranking out a true top 10 in desert or rocks, the two most active maps, you at least had to put in
unless your name is Kyle. People get discouraged pretty quickly nowadays. Hell I think in another year the whole top 25 will have
. Back on topic; put the points in or don't, I really don't care. I'll get points however I can as efficiently as I can without dodging raids or avoiding a fight if my team needs help.

His point is that ppl only beasted to the top of rocks/des so fast 5 years later because players during the past 5 years were much less efficient (had a disadvantage) on the site rather than on new DTTs.
It basically is a problem that the top25 becomes unattainable....

Make a weekly top 25 list based on PPH for that week, with a breakdown similar to the tourny exp system. Suggested this awhile ago but with additional weekly top 25 lists such as total kills, deactivated total etc.
Example

1 - It doesnt disregard the current top 25 nor impact on it in anyway.
2 - Some players get more time to play during certain weeks of the month and this gives them the opportunity to see their name on a top 25 list.
3 - Offers a much more realistic chance for NEW players to be rewarded and get their names on a top 25 list without investing 200+ hours.
4 - Could even have a breakdown of top 25 for each colour, each week. Although the game isnt really active enough for this yet imo.
Can also scroll through the weekly top 25 lists at ease with buttons similar to the bulletin board, with the all time top 25 list constantly on screen.
Edit - Alternatively to the PPH list, a legitimate raid taking top 25 list would be epic for the veterans of the game. Just an idea, but a raid should consist of having 3 or more tanks of a different colour on your screen as you get deactivated. To avoid having your death count as nothing because you got killed by a homer with no tanks on your screen, a 5 second timer could be effective. For example - If you run to an empty screen after leaving a screen with 3+tanks of a different colour on it, you must be killed within 5 seconds for it to count as a take, otherwise the timer resets.
There are probably better ways to incorporate a raid taking list, but the overall goal is to ultimately encourage raid taking. Not just for veterans, but for new players also.

Stats decay over time? That would make everything we work for kind of meaningless....Please do not add stat decay we work too hard, and put our blood, and sweat into our tanks....Please do not add stat decay

top 25 is supposed to be difficult to get into. there's different tier levels that people set goals for and they'll be in the top 25 before they know it.
don't degrade current player's hard work just to suck the dicks of new players. #jagex

Fuel transfer from tank to tank.
Traditional fuel depo: You click and hold to drop fuel.
Fuel Transfer: Cick and hold on ally tank and drop fuel.
Benefit :
Helping in raid.
100% ally will receive fuel instead of getting jacked.
2 less moves to worry about. 1 being you dropping the fuel 2 being the ally player picking it up.
I think its a more efficient game play.

if youre worried about top 25 being unattainable youre essentially screwed. Maybe your best bet would be to alter the focus of the game away from the top 25 somehow. Right now the only draw youre pushing is a point based game, while trying to eliminate the desire to get points lol. What about achievements? If you wanted im sure myself and others could work together to design some badges or something that would be displayed on a profile page. Theres hundreds of achievements that could be made for this game, and that would fuel desire to play and actually get some sort of gratification. Right now theres no reason to enter and play for an hour. Ill end with essentially nothing. tiered achievements would give reason to kill another 50 bots, play another hour, make another base, blow up mines or seek out specific kills etc.
take the focus away from maximizing point gains and start focusing on cool assignments to complete, quests or some shit. design badges for completing them, add point values on them (for example, 20 points, 50 points etc) and create a ladder leaderboard. Harder achievements/higher tiers reward more points. Either create a new award or award one of the current specials. Maybe first/second/third get a special at random, making it interesting.
id enjoy designing some badges, could either get a small team together of us who are good at this kind of work or host a purple heart contest. regardless, someone would be needed to finalize and polish every badge so they fit together.

Do stuff like:
Rearrange different peoples awards
make generals recruits and visa versa
random raid booting
and other fun stuff
make sure you film it though I'd love to get a laugh or two out of the videos

Add more top 25 lists.
Top 25 - Kills
Top 25 - Hours
Top 25 - Raid takers ( not sure on how this would be easily made though)
Top 25 - Deactivations
Gives us something more to strive for :)

or increases the leaderboard. Maybe show top 100 etc.
give people a leaderboard near their rank. For example, if im major and hit top 'x'or whatever it would look like this.
********************
245. Sean987 (major)
246. Kylemac (major)
247. ! Jordann (major)
248. Ghays (major)
249. Whinealot (major)
gives more incentive to continue beasting time while not general.

wardizzle wrote:1. No second map. This community operates cyclically with the school year. Start bringing in the high school and middle school crowd, and maybe. But seeing as we're all in college or new grads, you're a fool if you get excited over a few weeks of high activity and try to exploit it. See: uTanks debacle in December two years ago.
2. I can come to agree with most of you on the idea that shitty maps need to go. When I had patience and an actual desire to stay in the map forever I was OK with faking in Apps or Castles to get the fuel on land but I'm done with that. These days I might have 15 minutes to pop in after work and before bed and that's it. I don't want to do maintenance. I don't want to have to worry about whether the 3 blues in now were actually 7 blues 5 minutes ago and find myself driving insuff for 2/3 of my play time.
What I propose is the following:
We have three different categories of maps: the ones everyone loves, the ones people groan at but don't really cry too much about, and the ones that get whining going non-stop. FYI, this does involve some basic 6th grade probability.
Now that 75% stopped reading, here's how I would break it down:
Category A: {Desert, Rocks and Swamps, The Pit, Elements, Orbital}
Category B: {The Nile, Levels, Crazy Waters, Foundry, Crazy Maze}
Category C: {Iceland, Deep Six, Castles, Appaloosa Land, Aquarium, Atlantis}
Pr(A)= 0.65
Pr(B)= 0.3
Pr(C)= 0.05
Also, Pr(A|A)= 0.65.
So you incorporate that into a random number generator with just those three different outputs. Once you've generated A, B, or C, you move on to another random number generator such that Pr(Desert|A)=0.30, Pr(Rocks|A)=0.25, Pr(The Pit|A)=0.25, Pr(Elements|A)=0.10, and Pr(Orbital|A)= 0.10.
Combine something like that with shorter rotation schedules (i.e. 12 hours instead of 24) and I think you have a solid setup providing good playability and variety in map styles to keep things fresh.
In short, you would have a set up that would result in a passable map being up over two continuous map rotations 90.25% of the time and 85.7% of the time over three continuous map rotations.
Needless to say these are all arbitrary numbers but I think it would work.
Anyone need translating or did we all keep up?
Wanted to remind you folks of this idea since bitching about maps still seems to be a "thing" around these parts.
