You know how in Goldeneye 64 you could win the award for "most frantic" in a multiplayer match?
There should be something like an "action percentage" ratio that defines how active you are as you play the tank. Simply:
Time spent waiting for moves / total time
So basically any time in which you are not waiting for your tank to do something is "idle time" that counts towards the denominator and not the numerator.
This will make it easy for players to compare who is "going hard" while they are in the map vs who is just sitting around. Players who start competing for the highest action percentage will no doubt exhibit a higher level of play, and it will also encourage everyone to work on their mapping skills (since time spent staring at the map is idle time).
It can be calculated in real time and be viewable by pressing C.
...can we win lightbulbs in this thread or do we still have to submit ideas formally? I'll send it in anyway. Expect a slightly more formal version in your inbox

remove hot keys
no ... you have the option to not use them, plus i'd suck because I haven't clicked map, mine or radar for 10years? or when ever X-5 came out or w.e DTT had f hotkey first.

An idea for missles (to make them worthwhile). Make the damage 1.75, as compared to 1.0 for a single shot and 2.0 for a dual shot.

didn't missiles do 1.5x the damage in bf?
I agree, missiles should do more damage than singles and gain more exp than singles ... I use to use them at the end of tourns when I ran out of duals.

missles might as well just be removed. Tbh, they rarely get used and it'd be better to use homing shots anyway. - better to refill only 1 slot instead of both of them. IMO - remove missles is the best course of action. Fill times will also be reduced with only 4 types of equipment(tourney). More fun.

A slight damage boost would be a lot better then totally removing them. This discussion has been brought up a million times it feels like.

Commonly submitted Lightbulb ideas that should be avoided:
Replace missile shots with some other type of equipment.
I guess this means removing them also. I believe missiles should do more damage though. It will make taking raids slightly harder, alter how you can pph in tourns (people will use missiles when they have 0 duals vs people who will only use duals and go re-fill them)
I really like the 1.5x damage idea. I think 1.75x will be to high hurlz.

Missiles could have a 1/10 1/20 chance of piercing armour, extra damage, etc doesn't have to be every shot. Would just add another dynamic to the game!

If this has already been discussed in the previous seven pages then please disregard. I thought of this the other day regarding being deactivated and losing rank. I think it would be more attractive for nubs to take more raids if in fact it took dying multiple times to lose rank, more like tournaments. I'm not sure exactly how that's structured for tournament play, but I think it would definitely be ideal for normal map play, as well. More chances to take raids and gain/lose rank. It would definitely induce a lot more action and would make players scared to die more inclined to go harder.
My two cents.

It used to be that if you die in a tournament you lose 1000 points towards ranking, and if you had less than 1000 points you would lose a rank. Could do something similar for the main map, if you only lost a rank every other death then higher ranks would be sustained much better

Isn't that how it used to be early in BF?

I've never heard of it being 2 deaths to lose a rank myself
ISO someone with a more prolific history to confirm how deaths worked early in BF

If you're talking outside of a tournament, then no. I started playing BF in 1998, and if you were deactivated in regular map play you lost your rank, even if you had 100k PP racked up at that rank.

Small fuels (under 500) get respawned into big fuels every 2 to 4 to 6 hours. Wouldn't exactly increase skill to play the game, but small fuels being all over gives the illusion that a map like Desert could get "dry".

Maybe bots should just collect small fuels every now and then
i dont know whats all been said but maybe everyone can customize the buttons used to disable and enable equipment.such as turning armor shields on by using the 3rd mouse button if players want,or whatever keeps them more comfortable and faster for there style of playing. Also players thats your same color when you check the active players in the game, along there name can show the position of them and there name the shade of the fuel level they have. And so you can find any teammate at any time without searching with the position showing. another idea would be putting clan/team tags on the side of the tank name or a clan/team logo, that a leader can upload and send it to other players to officially put players on a team, keeping fakes away and showing off your team. also player profiles would be a good idea, you could type in the name in a search bar and find that tank,or click on the name in a tournament results or top 25 list. Look into each players profile such as tanks, awards,#s,color, current rank, what team/clan there on,last log in/played,shade of the color as there name last time they Qd so it could show if you were quitting low.And if a player chooses to set it on private they could or hide certain tanks from others being able to see.i submitted these a couple weeks ago but i summed em up.One more thing would be to have desert as a 5 day map,and on the tankpit.com site, every player (so its active players and the ones that dont post here) would have a fair chance to vote on 2 weekend days, the maps with the highest 2 or the weekend should be up this way everyone has a say so and it shakes things up a bit for the people who are getting bored of desert(not one of those ppl)

24 hr color lock after you enter the field - color flipping fix
each week, 1 of the 4 colors is inactive for you, this would force you to play a different color at least 1 week out of the month - encourage a 2nd main tank

give the damned players that worked hard for their awards their awards (kyle and jordan)
actually grow some fucking balls and do something about the iv drip of cancer that plagues the game and ruins it for everybody else. sure we're a hateful community of pricks and assholes, but we all know who ruins the game and makes people leave and we wouldn't witchhunt down someone who tries to play the game legit even if we hate the stupid shit they spew all over the forums and want them gone from spite. (me for example, everyone hates me, but they like that i always try on the field regardless of how terrible i am or how annoying as fuck i am on the forums)
perfect replica of how battlefield was before it disappeared. NO tweaks, they retired the lightbulb because the game was sufficient and great enough, your "upgrades" are terrible and that is why tankpit is NOT battlefield. also rename it back to Battlefield, tankpit is a dumb name IMO.
if players want to play battlefield, make it battlefield. anything else is utanks.
my shitty 2c that will probably get misinterperetted as tankpit hatespam even though it's not.
I don't hate you. and I must agree well said.
