TP FOR DUMMIES: The Guide To Everything To Step Your Game Up
This Topic is going to be filled with things for players to read and hopefully help better themselves and understand certain things. Everything im Leveraging is coming from old archives that i find to be extremely useful and have helped my game play over the years.
Feel Free to Add anything that can add to this, or maybe your own personal guides. This Should be everyones one - stop place to learn something, or refresh a memory, especially new players. Anyone can improve anytime. Thats the goal for this thread.

TAKING RAIDS: THE DEFINITIVE GUIDE TO RAID TAKING
ORIGINAL POSTER: carnage
First of all, for those who might not know, taking a raid is a situation where you are forced to fight off 4 or more tanks at once. This difficult and hard-learned skill is often what distinguishes truly skilled Battlefield players from those who are beginner, or less skilled players.
Skilled battlefield players will fight as hard as they can, while the less skilled will just run away, or quit. The more tanks you can fight off at once and survive (defined as shooting all of your dual shots while the enemies are raiding you), the greater your skill as a battlefield player. Before you take a raid, always turn off erroneous programs as they will slow you down, this raid guide assumes that you have done all you can to increase your speed
OK, now that the introduction is complete, let us begin. The first step to being an excellent raid taker is preparation. If you feel that you are about to be raided and you have a minute or two, prepare the field to your best advantage. Choose an area with enough fuel to support you as you move and fight. Also, an area with many rocks around it will provide you an advantage because after you teleport over the rocks to fuel, some of the raiders will continue to shoot you with missile shots. They look good when they hit you, but they do relatively small amounts of damage. Radar the surrounding area and shoot mines off of any fuel over 500. You don't want ghost fuels (barrels that appear to have over 500 fuel in them but when you get to them, they are empty) to be the reason you die. OK, you have prepared the area if you have time and are ready to take the raid, if you do not have time to prepare, you will have to cope as best you can.
Before the first tanks arrive, the most important step is to relax. I can remember before I would take a STRIKER raid when I was learning I would be so nervous my hand would shake and I would be unable to control the mouse. Relax, it's not the end of the world, and even if you die, you will only get better. That being said, do not be afraid to die, I must have died 50 times before I learned how to take a raid. Turn on all of your equipment except shields, as you are making the best show you can, you don't want to shoot the ground because your homers are off, or worry about not having missiles on. When the first of the raiders teleports beside you, start shooting him immediately. Remember, your goal is to shoot as many dual shots as you can before you die. The raiders will have different connections and speeds (they wont all show up at the same instant), and you should use this to your advantage.
Now, depending on how many people are raiding you, you should teleport away at differing amounts of fuel. If you have only 3 or 4 people raiding you, you can go as low as a quarter fuel before you teleport away. If it is 6-8, you should teleport around half fuel. If you are being raided by 10 or more tanks, you may only be able to shoot once or twice before teleporting. Now, I have said teleport to fuel because any good team of raiders will plant mines as soon as they arrive beside you, and you will be unable to move directly to fuel. This is a common mistake. That being said, sometimes it is best to radar the mines and move to fuel. However, for the most part, it is best to teleport as you will lag less and won't hit mines. Try not to get in the middle of 9 tanks, teleport to the fringes of your screen, so that you can still shoot them, but they aren't surrounding you. When you are surrounded by that many tanks, it slows down your game and you may take twice as many shots as normal before you can move.
Now as you teleport to fuel, turn on your shields using the 1 key if you feel you need them. In the beginning of a raid, it is best to err on the side of caution and use the shields until you get into the groove of the raid. After you know approximately how many homers will be hitting you and how fast the raiders can get to you after each teleport, you can begin working hard to conserve shields. While you are in the process of teleporting, you should be repeatedly clicking on the radar button, so that as soon as you land, you use the radar right away. This will sometimes allow you to squeeze in an extra turn and use the radar before the homers begin hitting you. Hopefully you have landed on a real fuel barrel and have full fuel. If not, your radaring most likely has uncovered one for you to teleport to. Regardless of whether you have landed on a fuel barrel and have full fuel or whether you still need some more, teleport or move to another fuel barrel on your screen. If you are fast you can get all of this done before the first of the raiders has teleported to where you are, and teleporting the second time will prevent you from being surrounded and lagged, as the raiders will all show up where you teleported to first. Also, the raiders will get in each others way and some will have to shoot missiles at you. Never teleport far away when you can teleport close. This wastes fuel and slows you down, as the homers take a long time to get to you. If you must teleport far away, teleport real close first so that the homers hit you there, then immediately teleport to where you wanted to go, this will prevent you from being lagged. Once you have fuel and the raiders have appeared again, begin shooting them immediately.
Repeat everything I have told you so far and hopefully you will be able to shoot all of your dual shots before you run out of shields. When you are out of duals, you have succeeded. Shoot a few singles, so that everybody can see that you shot all of your duals. You should then say "Be right back", and if you have done well, any honorable raiders will allow you to fill up. Be advised, turning off your dual shots so it appears you have shot them all is a ploy new players often try, but most raiders count the # of duals you fire and they can tell when you try this trick. Start small, fight off 2 or 3 tanks at first, before you run into a large group of tanks and start firing. Try getting your friends to raid you for practice. Be warned that speed hack or any other hacks will cause you to be hated by every other battlefield player, especially the people raiding you. Follow the advice given in this guide and you will quickly learn how to fight off raids. Remember; never be afraid to die in your efforts to learn, take every raid as a challenge and don't run from it. I hope this has guide will help you. Good luck and see you on the field!

ATTACKING - THE ART OF WAR
ORIGINAL POSTER: Viper GTS
Attacking someone in Battlefield alone is rather easy and does not require a large amount of skill. Sadly, most individuals who play Battlefield today do not fight unless the numbers are in their favor. If you are on of those individuals…die!
Equipment
Do you nee a promotion? If so, have your homing shot, extra radar, and of course the dual shots enabled. If you need armor shields please read Defense Tactics 101. Begin the process of intelligence gathering.
Analyze
War is 50% deception, 40% intelligence, 5% defense, 5% offensive.
*Key notes to remember:
- never assume anything
- Always radar for fuel and newly ????
- watch for snipers
The most infamous deception used trying to obtain a promotion is the Noob Trick. Show image with the image shown above the purple tank has deliberately deposited his fuel and protected it with mines. The opponent (Red) believes that his victim is low on fuel and unable to do damage. The purple player has his shield enabled and betting that the red opponent does not have enough armor shield or fuel to compensate for the upcoming battle. The purple opponent carefully monitors his inventory of shields and fuel level. If the red player is a noob, he will forget to do one of the following:
1. Turn on shields
2. Move/Teleport to fuel
3. Radar the field and see that the purple player has hidden in his purples mines!
If done correctly, the purple player should deactivate the red opponent but will lose a substantial amount of equipment.
Raid Tactics
Since deactivating someone one on one is very difficult strike team are often made to raid a certain field. They combine Formation, Skill, and Communication to take down their opponents.
Communication
Raids are often coordinated by the strike team leader either in the game or in a chat (AIM, MSN, ICQ, etc….) it is very important that the individuals stick to one target or else they will not deactivate anyone.

A Guide To Survive Battlefield Attacks
The proper Defensive maneuvers should be applied in Battlefield. However, there are different situations that require one to ascertain which defensive procedure to utilize.
1-1 Battles
Almost 70 % of all Battlefield battles are between one tank against another. If you are unable to survive a 1 on 1 then it is in your best opinion to read this. First off watch your fuel bar the picture shown indicates a tank that is 90 percent full on fuel. It is imperative that you choose the right moment to teleport or move to fuel when fighting any battle. Unless you’re doing an n00b trick you should always either initiate shields or tele/move away when your fuel reaches dual shot level. By the time fuel reaches this critical level Shields should be active or you should be waiting for teleportation to commence. It is important to anticipate the opponent’s next move and try to steal his intended fuel. Analyze your opponent, it is vital to know your enemy and know yourself. By this I mean mask your movements, Do you always Teleport to fuel instead of moving? Do you move to the closest fuel barrel? Do you use mines? Are homing shots lagging you when you teleport? These are questions you should be asking yourself when in battle as well as trying to determine what the enemy is using. If you can predict his next move then you should force him to make more teleportation’s and movements while you blast away with your dual shots. Thus, you are able to empty your dual shot equipment faster as well as get a significant amount of points over your enemy. Remember never fight without duals shots because it puts you at a 50 percent defensive disadvantage which will cause you to lose points and make it look as if you are running from the battle. A good defensive countermeasure to an opponent who moves to fuel is to intercept his path and plant mines this image shows a classic case of the Echelon defensive tactics in a one on one battle. Here the experienced purple player mines in the red opponent because he knows that the red tank will move to fuel shown as A. The purple tank counters this maneuver by intercepting the reds path and planting mines thus hindering reds attempt to reach point A. If seen that the red tank still tries to move to point A then a move to the red dot point B would force the red tank to teleport to the fuel thus allowing the purple player to get three precious dual shots. *It is a good note to remember that any standard battlefield player takes about three moves to teleport or the equivalence of receiving three dual shots. This is why moving to short distances is preferred since it takes less time and takes no fuel away.
3-1 Battles
Three against one, this tactic can be applied to numbers ranging from 2-4 opponents against you. It is very feasible to take on these numbers and not only survive but cause the opponents to run away from the battle. First off ask yourself do you recognize your opponents? If so apply some of your intelligence and use some of the defensive tactics mentioned above. Here it is important to turn on extra radars because visualization of the field is critical in determining your moves. Fight it is very possible to scatter small numbers and use your brain to counter there brute number superiority.
6-1 battles
Analyze your enemy Are they a team? If so, you are in for quite a challenge because more then likely they work as a cohesive unit and are able to take out any sort of single enemy. Any current teams like the Hot Chicks, Ages, or STRIKERS should be able to deactivate you if you do not play your moves right. Depending on your internet connection it is best to shot two or three times followed by a teleportation. Shields should be used when needed mines and homing shots should be disabled because you have about a .004% chance of killing anyone in a 6-1. Remember you are taking twelve duals for every 2 that you shoot. Thus shields will waste if you do not stay mobile, small irregular teleportations should be made to surrounding areas of fuel shown as yellow dots (contain more then 500 fuel). Moving will kill you! If you move a large amount of distance such as across the screen it will allow your pursuers to catch up to you as well as plant mines and surround your precious fuel! Try to fill on equipment as your inventory of shields and extra radar should be dwindling. If your pursuers increase to anything over eight chances are that death is imminent unless help arrives for support. A player can run away from an 8-1 but there is no honor in running away especially from a respectable team. So let your shields burn shot someone and say congratulations.

NOOB MISTAKES
ORIGINAL POSTER: Viper GTS
Battlefield players that are new to the game (newbies) do dumb things that they may regret for the rest of their BF career.
1. The most important mistake is to Q-low this is when a player exits the game low on fuel in order to avoid a deactivation. The only way to get up in rank is to deactivate another player but if that player Q's out then you are unable to deactivate him thus unable to get promoted. Anyone reading this should not Q low no matter what the odds are against you.
2. Playing the same tank as a different color is another common mistake players make on BF. For example, my Typesalot14 tank is blue with 30 hours in Rocks, one day I decide to play it in Rocks as orange my points that I got as blue DO NOT carry over to orange. So once you select a certain color on a certain field stick with the color if you want to make the top 25 list faster.
3. Fake fighting is the deliberate action of shooting a tank without the intent to deactivate them. This is done very easily on fields with excessive water especially on Iceland and Apps. Points are gained very quickly however, this is a unfair advantage to players who fight people honorably. Many players will hate you for fake fighting.
4. Free kills is the act of deactivating another player who has determined he was going to deactivate to you before hand. Players who cannot gain rank honorably use this method to get their fortunately players that take free kills are often easy to deactivate. This is because it takes skill to get triple star and if someone cheats to get it they must not have skill to get it honorably

THE ORIGINAL TOURNEY BIBLE
ORIGINAL POSTER: MJK
Before I begin discussing how to win tournaments, I must point out that cheating is NEVER the way to go. Winning a cup by cheating is nothing, compared to the feeling that you get when you win one fairly. I have won over 50 cups fairly, and I still get an awesome feeling when I win a new one.
There are going to be 3 sections in this 'bible', so to speak. Section number 1 will provide some computer preparations that will help you avoid lag during the tournament, section number 2 will provide some information that you must remember before starting any tournament, whether it is a 1-hour or 2-hour tournament, section number 3 will explain how to win 1-hour tournaments, section number 4 will explain how to win 2-hour tournaments, and section number 5 will explain how to beat the very common speed hackers of today.
Avoid Lag!!!:-
Remember that BF is a game largely based on time. By pressing F6, while playing BF, you are given a number which is classified as your ping. Before you play the game, or a tournament, try to get this number as low as you can. People with cable internet and/or DSL will usually ping lower than dialup users. When an individual wins a gold cup in a tournament, he/she has either the best PPH (Points Per Hour) and/or the best rank in the tournament. Your objective should always be to get a higher rank than anyone else in the tournament, in the time given.
MSCONFIG:
Before you play a tournament, make sure you know what 'msconfig' is. 'Msconfig' is a program that allows you to enable and disable certain programs to start up with your computer, when you restart. The less programs that you have start up, the faster you will go in the game. Follow these instructions:
1. Click 'Start' on your System Tray
2. Click 'Run'
3. Type in msconfig
4. Hit 'OK'
5. Click on the 'Startup' tab
6. Now you should see a bunch of items with checkboxes beside them. Technically, the only things that you NEED checked are Systray and Explorer (Explorer might not be visible on some operating systems). Experiment with msconfig until you are happy (this might take some time).
GRAPHICS:
Remember that BF is a game, largely based on graphics. The better your graphics card is, the faster you will go. AND the less sophisticated graphics that you have on your screen, the better things will flow. I have Windows XP and, as many XP users know, the graphics are very blue and large etc. This MAY slow you down. To change your graphics settings, follow these instructions:
1. Right click on 'My Computer'
2. Click on 'Properties'
3. Click on the 'Advanced' tab
4. Under 'Performance', click on 'Settings'
5. Under the 'Visual Effects' tab, make sure that you have the 'Adjust for best performance' option checked
OTHER:
Make sure that you do any other things that may help you ping better in the game. REMEMBER, high speed in a tournament is very important. This is why speed hackers usually win every tournament, unless skill comes in and beats out the speed factor (which is something that I do quite often, hehehe). REMEMBER TO RESTART YOUR COMPUTER, BEFORE EVERY TOURNAMENT.
Things to Remember:-
Discluding the fact about speed in a tournament, there are a few other things that you have to remember:
1. Remember the exact time that the tournament starts. Make sure that your clock is set at the exact time. Bonus.com's time is exactly aligned with the 'time.windows.com' server. Meaning, for example, if bonus.com says that a tournament will start at 9:00, my time, the tournament will start at the exact time that the clock on my computer strikes 9:00.
2. Remember to turn off your armors by pressing '1' once you enter the tournament.
3. Play off of a DTT (DeskTop Tank). This will help you, especially if you are using dialup.
4. Make sure that you are comfortable. You will be sitting in front of the computer for a full hour or two. Set up some water or something like that and make sure that your parents know not to bug you for the following time period. If you are serious about winning a cup, you have to be serious about the tournament and your environment. You can't leave the computer unless something more important is going down, around you.
5. Try not to die. This will cost you a lot of time.
6. Do not overuse your armors. The more equipments you use, the longer your equipment runs will be.
1-Hour Tournaments:-
When you enter a 1-hour tournament, make sure that you know what the highest rank, possible to achieve, is. What is it? Major, of course. If you get major, in a 1-hour tournament, you are almost gauranteed a cup. Remember, you have only 1 hour to do this.
Start the tournament off with getting equipment. Only a fool would ask why. Just in case you are a fool, I will explain why. As a recruit, you only need 60 of every equipment. Remember that your ability to pick up as many equipments in the shortest amount of time is very important. Time is important. You are running out of time. Don't take long to pick up equipment. You need to fight! You need points! Some fags argue that seargants have larger radars than recruits and that is why it is better to pick up equipment as a seargant. Now, you can listen to the faggots or MJK (who owns every tournament that he sets foot in). Choose MJK's strategy and realize that seargants need 84 of everything (or something like that) to fill up. Any experienced player has tried both out. I used to run around as a seargant, until I tried things the other way and actually made the top 25. As crazy as it sounds, yes, there is an art to picking up equipment. Mastering it, will win you lots of tournaments. Here are some things about equipment that you MUST know:
1. It should take you anywhere from 5 minutes-15 minutes to fill up on equipment, in a 1-hour tournament. If it takes more, you will most likely not win, unless you are a miracle worker like MJK. Mind you, 5 minute-7 minute equipment runs are VERY, VERY rare. I have only had 1, 5 minute equipment run in my whole BF career. I average 10 minute equipment runs, nowadays.
2. Extra radars are the most important equipment (why do you think they are so rare?)! You will figure this out yourself, in time.
3. Pick up equipment by finding a place that NO ONE has been to. Don't take much time to do this. Click your map and go to the first decent sized spot that has no yellow dots on it. Once you get there, radar the middle of the screen then do a circular movement across the outer side of your screen... Make sure that you radar all four corners and all four edges of the screen. Once you come across a place with no equipment, teleport to another place where no one has been.
4. When you find extra radars, use them very carefully. Make sure that they find you LOTS of equipment. That is their main purpose. Let those extra radars do their job. Go to a special place and use them or you will kick yourself for the rest of the tournament.
5. I am sure that almost everyone has had their a few of their equipments jacked by some bastard. This is actually a good strategy. If you see someone with extra radars, and you are feeling like an asshole, go jack some of their equipments. It's actually pretty fun. I have jacked many equipments in my day. But, when you do it, make sure you don't do it to MJK or any other players that are almost as good as him or I will hack your tank or something. Do it to the n00bs that probably don't even know what the fuck extra radars are.
6. Fill up whenever you run out of armors or duels. At least once, in a tournament, you will run low on extra radars. If your count on extra radars sets into the high 30s, make sure you fill up and get the count back into the low 60s.
7. When you fill up as a recruit, in the beginning of the tournament, make sure that you have 60 of everything, except for extra radars. Fill up your extra radars into the low 50s.
After you fill up, FIGHT! Fight very hard. Shoot the highest ranks that you can see when you click on your map. Gain rank fast. Don't worry about killing anyone until you make seargant. When you make seargant... You should have about 18 duels left. Use the rest of these duels to kill a corporal (go after a computer corporal because you WILL kill it, unless someone jacks the kill). If you can, jack someone elses kill. By now, you SHOULD be in or near the top 10. Go fill up.
Do it wisely and quickly. People will be making lieutenant by now. Don't worry about everyone elses rank. Don't get nervous. Once you fill up, go fight. Shoot the highest ranks that you see. Preferably seargants. If you see big group fights, teleport to the outer edges of the fight and shoot bystanders. You will outshoot them 10-1 if you are lucky. Most likely, you will even get a kill. Focus on one thing now... getting 6000 points for lieutenant. Remember to constantly press 'c' and 't' on your keyboard to know where you stand and how much points you have. Once you make lieutenant, you should still have quite a bit of equipment. Use it to kill a seargant. Don't go after a skilled seargant. You will only be wasting your time and duels if you go after someone like MJK. You might even get killed. When you kill a seargant, use the rest of your duels on fighting. When you run out of duels, fill up on equipment. Remember, don't take too long. Your equipment runs, now,
should only take around 5-8 minutes (because you have a lot of extra radars). Fill up on everything and make sure that you have around 50-60 extra radars. Then go fight. If you aren't a captain yet, fight until you become one. If you are a captain, go and kill a lieutenant. Once again, remember not to go after a skilled lieutenant, unless he/she is being ganged up on by like 5+ people. When you kill one, use your duels to gain points.. Remember, you are running out of time.. You should have around 15-10 minutes left in the tournament. AND, you should be in the top 5 by now (MJK is usually first). Make sure you are on your way to major. It takes a lieutenant kill and 12,000 points to make major. This means only one thing (if you already killed a liuetenant)... FIGHT! FIGHT YOUR BALLS OFF! Don't you slow down, or I will ram a steel pipe up your ass.
You should need an equipment run anytime soon. When you run out of duels, fill up... and be VERY quick about it. If you don't have much time left, don't fill up completely. Fill up just enough so that you will be able to use the rest of your duels, in the remainder of time that there is left. I don't want you ending the tournament with 50 duels because you know what that means? That means you wasted a lot of time, gathering 50 duels too much. Now fight, you should be in the top 3 if you are confident that you will make major. If you don't make major, so what? You still got a cup. Be happy and try again, next time.
2-Hour Tournaments:-
These tournament are pretty straight-forward. The highest rank possible is general. I, MJK, have done it twice. A few other great players, such as myself, have done it. Only about 4 or 5 other players, to be precise. Don't focus on general just yet, lol. Focus on colonel. If you don't make colonel in a 2-hour tournament, you will most likely not win a cup. The hardest part about making colonel, in a 2-hour tournament is getting a captain kill. Most captains quit low or are loaded on equipment. This section will be different. Remember all of the things I said in the previous section up until I say "If you don't have much time left, don't fill up completely...." Instead of doing that, fill up completely. Get 108 of everything and about 80 extra radars.
You should have been playing the tournament for about 1 hour by now. Make sure that you are a major, for sure, within 1 hour and 10 minutes. If you aren't, don't worry, you probably have the points just not the kill. If you don't have the points, I suggest you quit the tournament because you will not win. You are over 12,000 points behind the guy in first place. Now, back on subject. MJK owns you. But yeah, you are now a major with full equipment. What do you do? Fight! Go and kill a captain. This takes some time and patience. Pick a n00b captain and say, "meet me" a lot. Some people will show up and help.
Get the captain dark and people will show up. There is not much fuel around now, so he/she will lose armors faster than usual. In doing this, watch yourself too. Make sure that you don't run too low on fuel or else YOU will be ganged up on. Have an armor battle with him/her. An armor battle is something where both of you are low as hell, and are only using your armors and duels. If your armors run into the low 40s, teleport away and fill up. Then immediately chase after the captain again. If you
are lucky, the captain will still be low as hell, cruising around the field. Plant mines right beside him/her. He/she will crash into them and that will fuck him/her up. Be careful now, because the captain is DEFINITELY very low on armors. If people show up, they might jack the kill from you. Jump in their way if you can. Don't lose this kill that you worked so hard for. Keep up the good work until you kill the captain. If the captain q's on you or if he/she gets killed by some other guy. Fill up on equipment (if you are low on duels) and do this over again. Don't give up, until you finally kill one. If you can, jack a captain kill from someone else. That will save you lots of time. But remember, DON'T look around for people that are low on fuel. You waste a lot of precious time doing this. There are 100 people on the field, for crying out loud. When you finally kill a captain, you are
set. Make sure that you fight and make colonel, unless you already are a colonel. When you make colonel, you should be quite low on equipment. Go and fill up. This will be your last or your second last equipment run, depending on how quickly you made colonel. If you make colonel within 1 hour and 20 minutes in the tournament.. You will most likely get the gold cup and maybe make general. I once made colonel in 1 hour and 4 minutes, in a tournament. I was a colonel, and everyone else was a captain. On average, people make colonel in 1 hour and 30 minutes- 1 hour and 40 minutes. When you make colonel, don't stop fighting.
Jack captain kills from other majors who are in the top 3 with you and lead raids on them. If you are in 2nd or 3rd place, attack the colonels that are in front of you. Make sure that you outshoot them and they dont outshoot you. Annoy them, fuck up their tournaments. Kill them if you can and make general. If you are 1st place and the guy in 2nd isnt far off.. Attack him/her. Don't let him/her pass you. Make the guy in 2nd sweat. Your goal is to get the gold cup. If you set your goals on that cup, you will most likely win one cup, whether it is gold, silver or bronze. Keep it up, and don't stop until the tournament ends. When there is 1 minute left, turn on your armors.. Teleport to a person that has a high rank and shoot him/her with your duels until the tournament ends. Make sure that you do not die and lose your rank.
Well, that's it for MJK's tournament bible. This should help you a lot. Almost immediately, you should see some sort of improvement in your performance. It takes time to perfect this strategy and to develop it into your own liking. Good luck in the tournaments and remember, MJK is your daddy (not in a literal way).
Bonus.com's time is exactly aligned with the 'time.windows.com' server. the best way to fight a raid.......... faster internet. solves 90% of your problems. i was told "you can still take raids with slow internet". oh really? yeah if i'm teleporting the entire time. try pressing 1 to enable shields.... but they dont enable until you're tank is restored. simply dieing in a 2on1 because you suddenly start pinging 2200. learning to "take raids" isnt hard. a new person can figure it out in 3 days if raids came 3 times a day. if you're slow... it doesnt matter how well at raid taking you are, you wont get past 3 screens IF you shoot back. if you teleport and run the whole time.... you tele somewhere loaded with fake fuels while you're insuff and 0 shields.... that's about 7 screens later. not saying this to be sarcastic. i agree with everything said, really. in fact i imply everything people tell me to do. i shoot and scoot, radar right off the bat, all this good crap. having horrible speed plus the lag of homing shots........ pffffff dont care how good you are... if you lag............ you die.

ArChAnGeL wrote:the best way to fight a raid.......... faster internet. solves 90% of your problems. i was told "you can still take raids with slow internet". oh really? yeah if i'm teleporting the entire time. try pressing 1 to enable shields.... but they dont enable until you're tank is restored. simply dieing in a 2on1 because you suddenly start pinging 2200. learning to "take raids" isnt hard. a new person can figure it out in 3 days if raids came 3 times a day. if you're slow... it doesnt matter how well at raid taking you are, you wont get past 3 screens IF you shoot back. if you teleport and run the whole time.... you tele somewhere loaded with fake fuels while you're insuff and 0 shields.... that's about 7 screens later. not saying this to be sarcastic. i agree with everything said, really. in fact i imply everything people tell me to do. i shoot and scoot, radar right off the bat, all this good crap. having horrible speed plus the lag of homing shots........ pffffff dont care how good you are... if you lag............ you die.
Google Gamebooster (maybe someone here can hook you up with a key). Use Chrome instead of IE. CTRL+ALT+DEL > Processes > right click java.exe > Set priority > High/Realtime
If you have an older computer, close any music programs.
Experiment with different web browsers (IE and Firefox have turned into the slowest, Chrome into the fastest. For me on all of my computers, anyways.)
Start > Control Panel > Java Settings > look under the options for show Java Console or w/e > open the TP play screen and the Java command console should pop up > clear all the memory options, reload license, etc...
If you have Chrome, go to the TP map screen, go to the "Customize and control Google Chrome" menu in the TR corner of your browser > Tools > Create application shortcuts. That will create a shortcut on your desktop directly to TP, which will allow you to avoid memory hog startup websites like MSN or w/e your homepage is (really helps on a shit computer).
What are your speedtest.net stats, anyways?
But ya. The retarded 15v1 clusterfucks where you have time to go to the bathroom in between turns are pointless, especially on a slow computer.

Wow.. I just gotta say that this is by far the most informative thread on these forums. If only there was a way to encourage new comers to read it through. I guarantee they would improve their play style dramatically. When I was playing years ago as a kid, I did not know even half of the stuff mentioned here. Props to the guide makers and nachos for posting. Thanks!

Cleaned the cpu and updated java last night I was hauling ass which resulted in me getting shot a lot faster than I'm used to and dying in 4 screens.
Excited to play a bit if I'm gonig to have this speed.

IH2DA,
Your post was deleted due to it not being helpful. It basically was promoting playing like a scrub. Doesn't belong here.

Figures i wait until now to read this thread
While on the field of battle it is important to learn to keep calm while taking on superior numbers no matter what the speed of game is.
When you keep calm you can focus on your shots in the raid and when to teleport while your fuel is getting low. Its important when teleporting from the raid
when you hit the new screen radaring the whole screen is the very first thing to do. Ive learned some people can get ashamed if they die in 2v1 or 3v1. Dont be ashamed it
happens. Keep calm focus in on your battle pay attention to fuel and radaring fresh screens right away all that will give you a better chance on lasting longer in a raid or possibly surviving it. The Worst the thing that can happen is you take on a raid and die you will get respect. I may suck in raids a lot of times the important thing is I dont quit low I die
and i come right back on the field. I consider that a true SKILL!!!

Discuss it in the Flame section? I'd like to hear what's wrong with what I'm saying rather than being told what I'm saying is wrong and having my posts deleted without even being notified. Especially when I'm being serious about the topic. That's alright though.

You have the right to post your opinion but maybe in a regular thread (doesn't have to start out in flaming/venting unless you are actually flaming/venting)
I'm not sure what your original post was but this thread is to help people step up their game and play by community standards. Discussion about why those standards may be wrong can be debated in separate threads rather than this sticky.

I used to do it at one point way back in BF, and won many cups that way. In the end, filling at recruit was the better strategy though.
I remember trying it once or twice in TP1, don't remember if I cupped or not in a Rocks tourney doing it
