I love iceland. Especially since so many of you guys seem to be so clueless as to what to do there. ICELAND FOREVER!

Where not clueless as to what to do there:
Lefty's idea of what to do there:
- Sit in water with ShingRa fake fighting
- If battle starts against him immediately get into deep water with fuel
Clearly you guys dont know how to play Iceland like him...

I'm a fan of Iceland. Then again over half of my hours in Battlefield were on this map so I'm clearly biased ;)

Ice is fun when land is wet. I hate how it gets so dry that you can go 30 screens and not find 1 fuel or eq.

As are all the maps.

I like the change of pace from Desert. However I don't enjoy ferry driving, lots of work. First time I've played Iceland in over 8 years though , so a little nostalgic

thanks for yet another kill on you to rank me back to general. It's appreciated.
-Yes faking is ideal in iceland
-Yes using a ferry against numbers make it quicker and easier to empty
For some real tips I'll continue.
Use the land to fill for a while. If it's too dry then start using the water.
Remember where rich veins of equipment are and leave ferries near-by.
Leave ferries by wet fuel areas also. Preferably at least 2.
Do your best to use obstacles to pick up trapped equipment, iceland has the most of this among all maps.
No map is harder to "clean" and redistribute its resources (d6 was similar but it's gone now!). Iceland has countless areas only accessible by ferry that will over-stock on fuel and equipment unless found and used. Fighting on land isn't really that difficult since there is so much water. You basically radar the outer rim, the central island and the major islands bottom left. As you go around the out-skirts, when you reach a dry area you use the middle to cross over to a better area. Get stuck with low fuel on any small island and you die. I love how risky iceland can be on land, and how profitable the water tends to get.

agree 100%
bunch of lazy/inept fucks who need a land map because they don't know how to clean water or monitor regen distribution.. on any map.. but it actually hurts in a map like this. truly pathetic, i hope we don't see desert for a month but i know it'll probably be back up by the weekend due to everyone crying about how they suck and such.

your right sean, its truly pathetic. those inept inbred peasants lacking a chromosome who like to enjoy playing rather then spending a shit load of time searching/faking/etc to have a map thats close to playable.

Iceland isn't too bad when the fuel and equipment are distributed well on land. The problem is you have to spend half your time emptying out water and half your time playing on your own terms instead of playing on your own terms 100% of the time.

if we had ice/cas up for as long as desert, you guys might actually be good and understand how map regens work by now. probably not, but still.

a fair point, but the way i see it.. you can have small fights on land that actually get people killed because of the dryness (everyone cries about how dry it is, but yet..) or you can use the water to make the land more wet (but everyone cries about faking). once the land is wet (doesn't really take long to get this to happen if you have 2 competent people) it's just like any other map.
i'd theorize that if you guys actually used fuel properly (not leaving 2-300 cans all over creation, actually using all the fuel in a screen when you're fighting) this would be much less of an issue, but again, no way in hell thats going to change overnight

This attitude carries over into desert where I'm one of only a few people who seem to clean the lakes. Trust me man, I love it when I can fill there in a screen or two like a half dozen fills in a row. Then I can hop in it against small raids and drain the fuel while emptying quick, find rich eq in a corner, return to drain the lake blah blah...Water baby mode can really work, only thanks to all you guys who ignore the water.

Leave iceland up for a month, and see how much activity declines. Almost everyone who I've seen take a raid in desert the last 3 weeks has died... Maybe with exceptions being counted on one hand. I'm talking decent 6 man raid, is really fucking hard to empty on, things got to go almost perfect. I gave Ice a try yesterday, land was too dry to have any decent amount of fighting and water is obv whack. I can continue onto a tl;dr but ill stop. When the map change affects activity by like 75%, you gotta draw a line?
Don't get me wrong, I probably wouldnt mind ice if people would play, but yesterday was pathetic compared to the past weeks. If nobody plays, it's not going to be fun anyways. Lets see what happens today though, ima go in optimistic!

I did have something meaningful and insightful posted, but my phone glitched and my response got deleted. I don't feel like typing it all again. Sean, lefty and Jordann all have valid points. Making a map playable takes time, something that a select few have in abundance. The majority spend less than 2 hours a day playing like myself and would rather have a land map we can come in and fight on. If I played like I used to, cleaning any map up would be a breeze like we did in castles for a week. It can be tedious in that map and I don't find much enjoyment in focusing my entire hour or less of playtime to map maintenance. Ice can be even more horrid as it was yesterday after work. I don't like playing from ferries, but the nature of the map necessitates this kind of play. I adjust and, if I had the time, would clean out ice like I did apps for hours back in the day. Complaining about the map doesn't do any good when it's what we have available to play.
I believe the new maps will bring an increase in activity, and we will hit 50 active or more. Should be good fun.

even desert takes maintenance. The lakes get packed, as do the very rocky areas at times. Although when the mountains are getting fueled up, its like raid taking heaven. Definitely more of a chore fighting there when there are smaller numbers though. I guess at the end of the day I hardly care what map it is because I try and convert time into points by focusing on smaller battles. Even in raid situations I'll either snipe the raiders or try and pull someone out of the pack for 1v1. It's times like those I don't mind atelo sniping me with his captain, because I will just shoot it back instead of having to teleport every 3 seconds.

I agree even desert requires maintenance, but not nearly as much. I can at least go in desert or rocks for my half hour and not see 1/4 of the entire map after pumping out 4 rounds of duals.
Man it would have been some nice points in rocks for me just now if I didn't have to work.

BOSS7, glad you stayed in. I die all the time, I didn't keep that Gen rank too long either myself as I died twice yesterday. It's always great to watch a new player in the game transition from newbie, to novice. Keep on fighting. Stars and other awards come as they do, reputation is earned..Keep it up!

Either he didn't play 10 or more hours a day every single day or he didn't get his rusty in 3 months.
