Tournament Doesn't End Until General Reached

The idea is fairly simple, the tournament doesn't end until someone makes the rank of general. After someone hits general the tournament is over, top 3 places get their cups. This type of tournament would not replace the normal 1-2 hour tournaments, but would occur infrequently.

The purpose of this would be just for a fun and different take on tournaments. I feel that once a few people reach the rank of colonel the tournament would be crazy fun and full of action

I haven't put too much thought into this, so forgive me if there's something profoundly stupid about this idea.

If I played more tournaments, I would definitely make it a point to play this one. I could see one of these lasting in excess of four hours.

Haha, glad to hear you guys would also be down to play such long tournaments. Maybe it would be a great mode for the hardcore users.

endurance...your post lately are very involved - I am a fan of reading them.

As far as the General idea...I like it, but I am afraid that the colonel kill would be very difficult and would more then likely usually end with a FK.

Seems on par with current tournaments then.

Just kidding, sort of.

But realistically, it's already an endeavor in itself to reach colonel in tournaments. If somebody manages to make colonel, I highly doubt they'll be that willing to die down with it. Currently, people can easily FK in tournaments by ranking up to LT on bots and just dying to a captain. At least a colonel FK would require quite a bit of dedication to pull off.

Just not possible at this state of the game. Nobody would make general in less than 3-4 hours and I honestly doubt more than 5% of this community would be able be stick around for that long a time period.

Maybe later, when (if?) we have 50-75+ people playing tournaments regularly.

lol fks tho. Also would not work because of the player-base. If the community was three times larger this would be feasible. Nice idea though.

I cant even concentrate on the 1 hour tournaments let alone one that may go on for 3 or more hours.

but hey if some player would like it by all means try it out one day.

well...in tournaments with no set/known end time, players would have to choose rank or pph. it'd be a gamble!

I agree it would take dedication, but heres the setting.

two people have managed to make colonel (whether or not they got there with free kills is another discussion) and they decide instead of waiting for others to make colonel and losing a possible cup - one gets enough promotion points to keep his rank and just lets the other kill him and one will get :goldcup:

and the other :silvercup:

They are both cheaters and they both get rewarded. Very difficult to prove if it was legit or not also.

Getting to general could be difficult with the player base but I don't see why we couldn't set it for colonel or even major? I think this is a great idea that should be considered! Also does the tourny end after one person reaches or do you have to wait for three people to reach to get cups?

could be cool if once a tank made an 'x' rank instead of finishing the tournament he receives a gold cup and is booted. next person who makes 'x' rank gets silver, booted, and third gets bronze and it finishes.
