Bot roles
I think bots should have deeper roles in the game than they currently do.
A few ideas to incorporate them into everyone's play time:
I think it would absolutely deepen the game play for new and old players alike as well as make it more competitive on the whole (imagine a 6v1 randomly turning into a 10v1 for one screen or, conversely, into a 6v3)
A few ideas to incorporate them into everyone's play time:
- Have them randomly drive/teleport to new screens
- Have them randomly shoot visible mines (ideally this is incorporated along with bullet 1)
- Have them (at random) obey player requests (Meet me/need fuel/Help! Enemy!)
I think it would absolutely deepen the game play for new and old players alike as well as make it more competitive on the whole (imagine a 6v1 randomly turning into a 10v1 for one screen or, conversely, into a 6v3)

Man this is a neat idea. I have pondered such things but thought that it would be too complicated to implement. Now though with the code being re written and updated maybe the potential is there for this type of depth. Great idea man!

I was thinking about this but never posted it. It would be interesting if they would obey the "Attack the ____," "Help-Enemy! (x,y)," and "follow me" commands.

I think sebs ideas would definitely work best for bots that are within a certain range of the messages, because a bot teleporting in from across the map is going to be useless if it doesn't have any fuel left to do anything with
In Battlefield, they obeyed "Attack the _____." Been wondering why this hasn't been reimplemented
^^ I want this soooooo badly. Some people might consider this newbing around and/or some kind of waste of time, but stuff like that is honestly my favorite thing to do in the game. We've all agreed that people can play however they want, right? I mean, as long as whatever people are doing is combat-oriented I suppose. Well, I want to make a base somewhere off to the side and gather bots to defend it. That's combat-oriented!
I really think being able to lead bots around in the way I described would be the funnest thing for everybody ever and even has the potential to cause an activity surge. And to help make sure it's a better kind of activity than a mere influx of guest recruits, it could be done such that bots do not respond to commands given by guest tanks and/or you have to be of a certain rank for them to listen to you! ie. If you're sergeant or lower they can still say "No Way!" to a Follow Me command, but at lieutenant and above they will (try to) move to you as long as they are on your screen to receive the message.

In another thread, -Kirby- effectively wrote:I think it's simple: you say "Follow me," and any bots on screen of your color drive to sit next to you. You move somewhere else, say "Follow me" again, and they drive next to you again. Repeat repeat repeat and you can gather bots and bring them wherever you want

i remember in utanks when youd go bot farming you killed every bot except for one area of the map. after a few hours every bot would be in the small area. teleport in throw some shots at every color and it was pretty entertaining for 5 minutes.

Bots don't obey "Attack the..." but they should. It's somewhere on the TODO list.

Then I break the game sometimes, because they have obeyed my commands.
Thinking about this a little I may know how to recreate this.

I have told a bot to attack another bot via Attack the ___, and it did. That night I got 2 red bots to kill a orange and a purp comp. This is what I am talking about.

Also, could you make them obey the "blow up mines" message too?

Support.
I think bots should have a measurable impact on the game play.

I missunderstood I thought you were asking me if I got the bots to blow up mines at the instance I was talking about...You are asking if that is a possible add to the game. Well to that I say...Bots should be able to obey more commands, and follow you for a period of time...As well as be able to hold equipment, and use it. The possibilities of this game becoming more then bonus could ever dream is a reality, because we have our top guy on the job, our ace in the hole... we have SW.

There really should be 1 bot of each color who will just whip yo ass if you f&ck with him. I'm talking gangsta hunt you down style........you teleport, that sucker will stick to you like white on rice until you (a) surrender, (b) Q, or (c) get de-activated. But the motivation behind it is mucho, mucho, mucho, mucho pph. I'm talking more than a General vs General fake fighting in the water (<----- pathetic practice but still happens).

If you depo near a bot and tell it to use the radar, it will and it will gain the fuel as well. Pretty interesting but useless haha
