SPECIAL BUY-IN TOURNAMENTS

Postby tournamentJESUS » Sun Nov 10, 2013 5:42 pm

several per month with a $5 entrance fee and top 3 players all receive gold cups. players who don't die receive 1 free entrance ticket to the next buy-in tournament.

tournament rules:

a) the concept of 4 colors is eliminated; everyone is the same color and it's every man for himself
b) tournament will occur in broad daylight on either a saturday or sunday so more people can participate -- none of the 3 am shit where only 7 show up
c) one death and you're done
d) extra radars cannot be found after the 40 minute mark
**optional and up to sw** e) all money gathered by john silver has to be re-invested in some form into the game so the participants know they aren't simply funding orgasmic escapades a la utanks

:hmmm:

Wonder if this would work (if enough people would actually play, if tournaments without noobs - who I'm sure wouldn't pay to enter - would be possible). Would pretty much need to prevent Q low from working, too.

On a side note, I have thought about buy-in tournaments before where the winners take the pot. Or the option to pay, and if the winners didn't pay the pot is simply carried over to the next tournament. Would be pretty cool if we could prevent cheating. :hammertime:

instead of the pot being real money, sw you should keep that money and have the winner win something in game related?

This would be a cool idea. But you should be able to die twice and then quit. Also, Have mods on game because game is payed for and we should have a 100% no cheating tourney. :)

Id be in.

Heres some suggestions I'd keep in mind,

-Have a buy in tournament set on the calendar that is a popular date/time (to maximise amount of people who can play).
-Set it at 5.00$.
-Only run the tournament if we have at least 15 people who have bought in. Otherwise rain date it.
-SunWolf keeps the money to improve game
-Top three winners get a specialized cup. Barely noticeably different than the regular cup, just SLIGHTLY different. Should be called an elite cup or something.
-Do this once a month or something to make it special

How about He keeps a percentage, instead of making a new award.

There should never be awards available only to those that pay.

I can think of arguments about this - but I can see what your getting at. This is why I said it would be marginally different and of course would replace your existing cup.

Regardless if a new award was implemented or not - there needs to be a special result from a special buy in tournament...

I am personally not a fan of gambling - so I'm not interested in winning money.

If all buy-ins go to SW then make it a flat $5. If the money is getting pooled for the players who win then make it a $5+$.50, where $.50 goes to SW. This would have to be across the board to even play the tournament of course. Doesn't make sense to have a tournament where half the people are free rolling and the other half are playing for $.

Is it illegal for people to bet on TP tournaments like at a horse track? Not saying I would do it, I'm just curious.

It should be fine if playing for the pot - those who didn't pay simply couldn't win it.

The bigger problem, and why this is probably not feasible, is that people would cheat if $ were involved.

I would imagine if some serious time got put into it, it could be made to work....

What about a person buys in, and the "site" gives them a guest bot. No one knows who that guest bot is until the end of the tournament. Would make for a nice level of anticipation. winners get the cup put on w.e tank they want, and keep the pot

OR

People who buy in with normal tank name they made, show up as guest throughout the tournament until the very end when its over. So know one knows who anyone else is...

Its to easy to say "Im bottom left, come free kill me"... I agree with SW. $ + tankpit = The worst in everyone.

Re: SPECIAL BUY-IN TOURNAMENTS

At first I was for this idea when I read the op, but after reading some responses it's quite clear this is a bad idea because of this game's history of cheating.

In an ideal world, this would be a great idea.

I would actually volunteer to referee a tournament like this if it were to happen.
