Tracking Name Changes
If anyone is similar to myself, I often forget who is who after they changed their name. I figured this thread would be helpful.

Perhaps tracking colors would be a good idea too, potential sticky topic imo
yea and identifying who the person was and who they are now if its a sold or traded account

I was also thinking this, but it will have to be someone else who can identify their tank color, as I would be mostly guessing. I noticed when addeR switched to Principal Skinner, SW made a note of the color change. That is the only time he brought up color though.

meh, im not one to be all anal about who everyone is in this game. I guess some of you want to ensure you can keep up with who changes their name so eventually they can be flamed for either playing someone else tank or purchasing one.

I dont think this warrants a sticky. People can stalk the tpbb if theyre interested enough.

this, sw didnt add a master page with all the name changes probably for a reason. its really nobodies business and the idea that everyone identity should be known to everyone at all times is one of the things ive always disliked about this community.

Well sometimes that's unfortunate. Like when everyone was under the assumption that BF-0 was still ben playing as orange but quitting low, running from raids and shit, it was only till what's his name got ousted that he changed his name.. I personally dont like when people pretend to be others, especially when its sullying their name.
Anywho, SW did announce them on the site so its not like its entirely private material, But a name change is really only important to the people playing during that tanks conception or w/e. I dont think its a sticky thread nor care cause i keep up on the tpbb.

Many benefits of having this information at ones fingertips, but I'll list a few down sides...
- Buying some ones tank/awards becomes more evident and harder to hide from public.
- Changing a name to lose a bad reputation is harder to pull off.
I personally think that the two above things should not be hidden. Both of them should be very public. In most games buying someones account is not even aloud, so complaining that you can't keep it on the DL is silly in my opinion. As for a bad reputation - you made your bed, sleep in it. Don't try and hide in someone elses.
Other than "shady" reasons, I can't think of any downside to this thread. It goes along with people who constantly delete their browser history - its usually for shady reasons.
Can anyone think of a non shady reason why we shouldn't have this thread?

buying someones tanks is not against the rules and sw stated this himself. buying accounts in other games is more of a dont ask dont tell situation.
changing name to lose a bad reputation isnt bad at all. do you prefer to have players keep their terrible reputation instead of making strides to better it?
i can think of plenty reasons why this thread isnt needed, one being that its posted and left on the bulletin board forever and if you really want to know exactly who everyone is you should keep up with that. this thread wont be sticked, and itd like to see it die. some of you are far to entitled to feeling as if you deserve to know everything going on. This isnt pertinent information at all. so you can keep this thread but dont try and sticky it. id hope to see it die.

Your right its not against the rules, and it is public information and this is just public information organised for the public. In other games like runescape, it is not allowed - period.

Bettering a reputation is fantastic. Hiding behind a new name is irrelevant to changing ones game play/reputation. Its like saying I need plastic surgery in order to be valued by co-workers.

First off, I did not sticky it - but I do think its a good sticky. What is this forums core? Tankpit!. Why has -kirby- spent countless hours digging up and organizing threads with information from 10 years ago? So that it is at our (the community) fingertips without having to spend 45 minutes digging through page after page to find a small bit of information. Its what makes this forum desirable to the public. This is just another organised thread that is appealing to the most of community - apart from the ones who may have some thing shady going on.
The other bit about "deserving to know whats going on" is an odd comment. I read your thread about your recent run in at the border, maybe your still feeling the infringement on your freedoms from that experience. But I can ensure you that I am only posting public information and organizing it. Its what many of the threads on here are. I think that everyone should be in the loop with whats going on with the Tankpit community and people who may not be able to spend as much time playing should have advantages like this in order to stay in the loop. I know that I personally love the "Player Profiles" section because I am able to make connections to players that I had no idea who they were until I read their posts.

If a section mod wants to sticky something relevant within his section let him. Creativity and ideas are good.
GMs should only step in if its a blatant mistake. Granted the standard of judgment isn't set in stone but I don't think this is an overstepping of boundaries on whomever stickied the thread in the first place.

the thread as existed for only a few days, and will basically be dead for majority of the time. If it proves it useful itll continue to be bumped.

For the record I didn't sticky this thread at any time. Somehow I feel this is really being blown out of proportion for all the wrong reasons. This is a forum of a game which houses any and all information related to tankpit and games also related to it, not a government website holding sensitive information.
If you really don't want to be ousted there's safer ways of doing so. Obviously it's not gonna be paying 25 bucks for a name change that's being posted for all to see, to which justifies documenting it here.

a thread doesnt need to be updated or active on a daily basis for it to be stickyed, if it has relevant information that everyone should know, then its appropriate

Changed it so all the names are in bold now. Also added Battlefield-2 to recent name changes...why was there two BF-2's anyways?

How?
Its information made accessible. I don't want to spend 10-15 minutes going through the bulletin to find this shit. I could if I wanted to but probably wouldn't (only if I really really needed it) (time vs reward). Thanks OP. +1
