Exceptional Tournament Experiences

Postby The_Revelation » Mon Jun 23, 2014 10:27 pm

I am creating this post for people who achieve a unique, or exceptional tournament experience. Post a screen shot if you achieved something great, I'll feature the best ones on the first post. This is for TankPit Version 2. Here are some examples of what should be posted...

- Best win vs played tournament record ratio
* No submission yet

- Achieving the Rank of Colonel in a one hour tournament.
* No submission yet

- Achieving the rank of General in a two hour tournament.
* No submission yet

- Most kills in a one hour tournament.
* No submission yet

- Most kills in a two hour tournament.
* No submission yet

- Fastest fill: CoolkylemaC - With what we will call a 3:55 fill. (6-7 more boxes, several of those being in screen and close)
Image

- Most promotion points at any rank.
* No submission yet

- Dying and still winning a cup. This would be captured best in a screen shot with "C" freshly pressed, only seconds left, with mouse on your tank. Include link to the tournament thread on BFU, since this could be faked with an early death.

- Quickest time to Lieutenant.
* No submission yet

- Quickest time to Captain.
* No submission yet

- Quickest time to Major.
* No submission yet

- Most Tournaments won back to back (consecutively)
* No submission yet

- Most Tournaments won back to back (personally): Four in a row from The Revelation.
Image

- Most Bronze cups won back to back (consecutively or personally)
* No submission yet

- Most Silver cups won back to back (consecutively or personally)
* No submission yet

- Most Gold cups won back to back (consecutively or personally): Three in a row from The Revelation

I remember in a tournament on Jordan's crazy maze map in utanks (labyrinth?) I killed 4 sergeants before even reaching the rank of lieutenant within 3 minutes in the first 10 minutes of the tournament with homing shots. anyone who played that tournament and remembers it will attest to authenticity of the story.

don't think I even cupped that tournament, if I did it wasn't gold L

and lets not forget the late, great, oxy.

No screenshot evidence but my fastest Major in a one hour tourney is here: viewtopic.php?f=170&t=18524

38 minutes to Major as you can see referenced within the thread. I, personally, know I haven't been in a tourney where anyone has beaten that since it happened, although it could have happened in one I wasn't playing. I really don't see how it's possible to get to Major much faster than 35-36 minutes without cheating/faking/eq kills the whole time and even then, it couldn't be easy.

Oddly, I do have a screenie of my now 2nd fastest Major, but it was from playbf.com years ago. :hah:

Image

Came in 17 minutes late and made major in 39-40 minute range.

This is all solid stuff! Regardless of it being Battlefield, TP1 or TP2 post everything just for good reading. But I will only feature screen shots from TP2 on the first post.

That video of 2 colonels in one tournament...thats insane, I've seen one before, but not two lol. Those days are likely finished, unless the blocks fall perfectly on one of our bigger tournament showings.

Getting a kill for major on wArDOg to beat Hunter for gold with literally 3 seconds left in the tournament.

Getting a 5 minute fill in the very first TPv1 tournament while everyone else moped around looking for eq for 35 minutes and cupping gold on CONDOR while 2nd pph was low 60th percentile.

lol'ing when I cupped gold on a backup AOW tank over what's his name and his posse of clowns who faked, eq killed, and FK'ed each other in a Desert tournament.

Silver on Snickers in a 2 hour R&S as the only blue for the last 70 minutes vs. a roaming mob of 9 reds and several purples. Zenta got gold on a fluke kill for colonel when Viper Katznoob forgot what game he was playing mid-raid.

Idk if I got the thread right.

Those are all great stories and good reads, so keep all that stuff coming. But for the first post, I am looking for stuff that can be a competition. Like fastest fill, quickest to colonel, most kills in a tournament - stuff like that.

I am going to submit my current streak that I hope to continue - 3 golds in a row so far...

Image

I know this isnt the best streak overall, but so far I have no submissions for that, so I currently am leading both categories with this submission.

Im not bragging, I am just trying to get the idea going that we need SS! Talk is cool, but screen shots are what we need for this thread to be something more then urban legends.

Utanks is irrelevant in this post sherman. Nachos just take a SS of your tournament history when you won 4 golds in a row and post it. or any win streaks (bronze,silver) - anything at this point will be leading the pack, since I have no submissions.

awesome! But for that particular spot I think a screen shot at the final minute of the tournament showing time,deaths and current spot. I know that's asking a lot - but it requires no story, the picture says it all. I obviously know that your not lying, and there are many people who have done this. But for this thread to be interesting, we need self representing screen shots.

Re: Exceptional Tournament Experiences

Postby HurleY » Sat Jul 19, 2014 7:40 am

my craziest tourney moment happen in utanks. last shot kill on whit, with 987 by my side shield fighting. with like a little more then a minute left i start shield fighting whit. i have silver locked up. then 987 joins to make it 2v1. whit continues to shield fight because he thinks he has enough shields to last the remainder of the tourney. but he didnt so he attempted to drive away. he was still within my scope though, so i got the kill. registered my promotion, i saw the rank and number, tourney ends, but since it was the last action it didnt register on the leaderboard so it said i won silver. in utanks another shot fired by me would have registered it. there was no time for that shot. so i had the wrong awards for like, a week, i remember them taking awhile to fix it lol it should of been done right then and there.

another moment was finally winning a cup in the cheating infected days of tp1's tournys. should of been silver but as i just said, the cheating fucked me over. either way it was great to have a cup to finish up tp1. cheaters literally ran shit then.

Re: Exceptional Tournament Experiences

Postby TM3 » Sun Jul 20, 2014 2:48 am

I don't know if this was exceptional but basically the easiest tourney win ever.

The Pit tourney on March 8, 2014 http://tankpit.com/tournament_results/?tid=240

This tourney was on a saturday afternoon and it had a ton of players in it. I knew it was going to be a pphfest since it was the pit and I was lucky to fill fast in 7 mins if I remember. Top 3 in pph and I sneak a kill on a noob off to the left side maybe after having 2k on my LT. Really low key kill because so many people were still ranking and there were so few LTs at that point. Kylemac and a few others were fighting top left and so I went to fight to get my 10k for cap. Kyle was getting super low and I could tell he was burning some shields. So as I'm at like 9k (points were still hidden at this point remember) he's about to die and I'm like fuck I have to stop shooting him or he'll die before I get to cap so I turn on one of the other LTs real quick and shoot for my 1k. Immediately after making cap I pile on Kyle and 3 shots after I make cap I kill him for major and stroll my way to gold. Most people looking at the top 10 probably had thought I killed him for captain it was so quick. I had to edit the screenshot together but whatever it was in order. I wish I would of screenshotted when I made major because it was super quick, close to 35 mins. I think only one other person was cap when I made major and there were 9 captains in that tourney.

Image

PD3.0 wrote:38 minutes to Major as you can see referenced within the thread. I, personally, know I haven't been in a tourney where anyone has beaten that since it happened, although it could have happened in one I wasn't playing. I would be really interested in "wins to tournaments played" ratio. What is that ratio for guys who have lots of cups, like Krusty the Clown, weekend nachos, 987, Lance, Rev, BlueGhost, Kirby, Rome sDs, and Battlefield-2 / kylemac?

We had a small discussion on AIM about this last week I believe.

I was sitting at 25.8% cupping percentage, IIRC.

I will say the numbers are somewhat "fudged" as I discounted any tournament I couldn't/didn't play more than 30-35 minutes, which amounted to 6. Including those it would be 24.2%

i think an above average knowledgeable tournament player should have around 20% atleast in this period. with the average player probably being around 12-13% and the best players being like 30%+. kyle had about 31% with like 27 cups on his one ccid (deleted the tanks a couple times) which to me seemed really high but understandable.

if the game were to pick up in activity and alot of players who had left returned i think the above average numbers would be bumped to about 15% with the best players being around 22-25% still. of course best means maybe 2-4 guys who are more consistent and stronger in all aspects. example for bf would be g9/sean/knock and then last year or year and a half would be pp/nas/sylarmac. utanks being sean, matooa and zub/evolv. tankpit being sean (still) kyle, cujo. tankpit2 would probably just be lancehead at this moment.

Aaaaahheeemmm..............

- 23 tourneys til I won my 1st Cup (Iceland :goldcup: )
- Cupped 4 tourneys in a row.....shoulda been 6 in a row but I lost it in the final mins and ended up placing 6th & 5th :lol:
- Last tourney I played in was June 14 ---> :bronzecup:
- Only 5 players ever presented a problem for me: Lance, Rev, PD3, Nachos, & Homer. Whenever I saw one of these guys on the field, I knew I would have to fight extra hard because they are official tourney BEASTS and I don't think anyone is better than these 5!

TO: Sigma, Cracki, lol, and all you folks who are Cupless,
Just keep trying and perfecting yo skillz. Lower your fill times, stay on the out skirts of large mobs, & keep an eye on the leaderboard. If someone makes Captain early, chase him down and score points. Kills will come, you just have to be in the right place at the right time. And lastly, BELIEVE in yo self!!!

I probably won't break any records, but I'm DAM proud and this is the reason why ------> I RULE!

WEENIE BOY

Edit: keep on eye on Bat-2 also.....he's either gonna win a Cup or get killed (not fk but more of a "I don't give a f*k" kinda kill --- balls to the wall).
Disclaimer: there are lots of other players who are tourney BEASTS, but these 5 are solely MY opinion (sorry Kirby, BG, Bat-1, Bat-3, wardizzle, etc...).
FACT: SW created the "I RULE" button specifically for me. :lulzz: <---- If you believe this FACT, you probably shouldn't go to Vegas and put all your money on the Cleveland Browns to win the super bowl. :tehfunny:

Believing in yourself really is the most important thing, I can't understate how serious I am about that
