Farming points demystified (aka shootn your own tanks)
People sometimes ask how to get points fast. It seems like some players are ridiculously good at this and it seems all mysterious how it's done. This is what I know about getting points fast and has nothing to do with how the game should be played. I hope it helps others in whatever way they see fit. Other aspects of the game has already been covered by more knowledgeable people than I so I will not comment on those.
We start with the following mechanical formula and break it down one by one
points per day=A(points per shot) x B(shots per hour) x C(hours per day)
To increase A you have to play a lower rank. There's a 9x9 matrix of numbers for every rank shooting at every other rank. In general, A is increasing in the number of ranks you are below the enemy and increasing in the rank of the enemy. Major shooting at general gives more points than lieutenant shooting at major. Experience shows that people are willing to shoot others at most 2 ranks below. This means being major shooting at general would be ideal and sustainable assuming there are generals. Of course being a sergeant is good for increasing A on the surface (a 10% gain over major), but it comes at the price of decreasing B for reasons I'll highlight below.
B is the most tricky, and many aspects are often overlooked by players. This also depends most on field conditions. The ideal case would be 1v1 with nobody else in the game shooting back and forth with homings off. Remember that it takes two to tango so be aware of the following.
1. First someone has to be willing to tango with you. Choose your rank carefully. If you are too low ranked, you won't find a partner. If you are too high ranked, everyone will come.
2. You are really playing two tanks, not one. If continuous shooting is what you want, ask yourself why you ever stop shooting? First reason is you run out of fuel. Second reason is your partner runs out of fuel. This whole exercise is about converting fuel to points as quickly as possible. Therefore it's optimal that you share the fuel equally and that you both move to new fuels at the same time. If you have all the fuel and your partner has none, then there are many pauses and missed shots. If instead both of you are half fuel, you can go on for another 10 shots. Think co-op, not competitive.
3. Everything said about fuel goes for equipment as well. If you are full and your partner is not, you have to wait. Always try to guess how much equipment your partner has and try to match to be in sync. Being out of sync means downtime which means low B.
4. Before you enter the field, look at the color imbalance because that's an indication of whether a raid is happening. Imbalanced map means it'll be hard to find a partner due to raids. Being in a raid (whether taking or giving) yields low B for the simple reason that you have to wait for others to move. However, it's ok to die in raids as long as you die quickly so you can go back to farming points afterwards. If you die in 2 minutes and fill in 2 minutes, that's only 4 minutes of down time. If you get raided for half an hour and not die, that really hurts.
5. Shooting singles may be optimal if you have a lot of fuel next to you. Yes you get half the points but you also don't have to collect equipment. The rate of point collection for shooting singles assuming you sit on a map full of fuel is 170k for major to general, which is hard to beat with equipment collection. So if you just ran out of duals with lots of fuel around you, just keep shooting singles if your partner is competent. You aren't losing out on much by not collecting.
C is easy to move as it just requires you to play more. However, C affects B. Some hours are better for point farming than others. In the middle of the day when everybody is on, your B value is going to be low. The best hours for B is usually in the morning or at night. However, if you want a high C because you already maxed out A and B, then you really can't help picking up low B hours. For 100k, you can easily do this at major in 40 minutes if you pick the right time. If you want to increase your goal, then you may have to make life changes such as altering your sleep schedule. Playing 1 hour at 3am may save you 1.5 hour of playing in the middle of the day.
Lastly, this game is not all about points. But if you do care, these are some factors to consider. So the next time you see a tank with good pph, they're probably doing some or all of these things. That is not to say they don't do other things that damage pph like taking raids, but that just means they need to be even more careful about these factors when they're not taking raids. Happy farming!

People need to step it up a level and criticize the material as opposed to making personal attacks. I don't claim to be a good player. I die in 1v1's. Next point please.

edited the title for truth.
MZ, youve been serg shooting your own tank for points. it seriously doesnt get any lower than that. to top it off you defend your behavior and call others out for straightforward pphing. youre definitely a disgrace to this game and have zero credibility in these discussions.
i hope you lose double the points you gained from this pathetic stunt.

Where in the rules does it say that you cannot shoot a tank that doesn't shoot back? Also don't make accusations that I'm shooting "mine" tank. It's my friend's.

It's just plain lame regardless of who's tank it is, that's why. Whatever though.

yeah you helped freekill that tank up the day before and it just so happens next day youre serg banking points off of it for 5 hours +.
sounds reasonable that its your courteous friend deciding to spend 5 hours getting fuel while you bank off him.
get out of here dude, that shit is cheating straight up and im debating on how long you should be banned from these forums for.

I like how people make their own definitions of what's cheating as though they're the authority. Let's consider the facts here.
1. I did freekill that tank among others. So do all many other players.
2. I spend less than 2 hours going serg on colonel. Other players spent hundreds of hours shooting at each other in the corner. Sometimes they even wait for you to get fuel or tell you where to go. They coordinate these "faking" sessions that are now officially called pph sessions to lend some legitimacy. The only difference is my friend doesn't shoot back because there's no point.
3. Sure ban me. Get SW to ban my tank too if you want. But on what grounds? What rule did I break exactly? If I didn't break any rules, then this is simply a lynch mob and not justice. You create arbitrary rules of what can and cannot be done after the fact as opposed to before. How are you going to attract new players if they know that one day, when you simply don't like their actions, you're just going to ban them?
Basically please don't single me out here. If I'm guilty, so are a large number of people here and they all should be hung with me.

That is not a bad idea and I have (and probably many of you have as well. don't lie) thought about it. Aside from the fact that you can't get credit for kills on the same ip, it is also ridiculously hard to level up two tanks simultaneously at the same time. You also can't bank points off yourself because there are too many people.
Also free kill is explicitly stated as illegal. Didn't you see?

Ew. Stop.
What is wrong with you?
You can semanticize this all you want, and weasel your way to whatever loopholes you think are going to work for you.
But the simple truth is that you're going too far. You're doing too much.
You have literally made a science out of playing like a faggot.
Your tanks need to go.

I'm dead. Haven't seen something so lame since Pesky in Deep Six:knock wrote:if you'd ask me, I'll say im still #1. Those old men I really don't care about. Pesky and tonka cheated for all their points, i have no desire to pass the old fagots. It makes me laugh how they complain about ppl on dtt's...yet they fake with themselves on 2 seperate computers. I have accomplished so much more in this game than being #1 in d6, and i did it all at the same time they were being gay in d6.
Just some fyi, Frinzee learned it best from the peeps mentioned above. He was not the first, and apparently, wont be the last.
I'm actually more astonished that I read the whole thread without paying attention to the (aka " " ") part. So many gif's in this pinpoint my actual feelings, great job guys.
