Rewriting game client
I updated about 75% of the game client so far. I've been improving a lot of the networking stuff as I go. That's the reason there are a few bugs (also a few old little bug fixes) tonight, and are likely to be some more in the future.
It's all for the good of the game, though. This work is the next step towards a JS/mobile client.

Yo yo SW, Ive been unable to run TP for over a week since updating java. I get the pop up tick box when opening the TP homepage, but whenever I accept it, chrome just crashes. what's his name suggested just waiting for the page to respond instead of killing pages, but even if that method works im pretty sure thats not how you want it functioning/it should be functioning. Have also cleared all caches so am outta ideas now. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated! Cheers in advance

Have you tried a different browser?
Have you tried reinstalling Java again?
Have you tried updating Chrome?
Sounds to me like it's a problem with Java or Chrome....

Same thing is happening on my laptop too. Both are using chrome by the way.

Have you tried updating Chrome? - Yes, updated and restarted browser multiple times.
Sounds to me like it's a problem with Java or Chrome....
Appreciate the help SW, thanks. Still no joy with any of these suggestions tho... Java suggested that I need both 32 and 64 java versions if im using Win 64 and chrome 32. Really dont wanna have to cease playing due to compatibility issues

Have you tried other browsers? Have you tried installing both 32 bit and 64 bit version of Java?

Tis not often im serious Savin, but when it comes to TP, shits serious!
Ive got both 32 and 64bit Java installed (re-installed both versions twice)
Internet Explorer, Mozilla and Chrome all crash in the same place.
This is the Java prompt I get after clicking 'Play' on the homepage (same thing in all 3 browsers) -

Once I click to allow access for java, all 3 browsers crash. Sometimes the java logo appears and loads 20%-30%, other times the java logo doesnt appear and the browser instantly crashes (same again in all 3 browsers)

When my client was last working, I had the java runtime settings set to Xmx2048m . Since then, ive tried loading the client in all 3 browsers using 512m and 1024 (duno why I thought that would make a difference) with no success.

Have since turned down the security settings to minimum, still with no joy..
Am pretty much willing to try anything at this point (except anal), so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

its not bugged-he needs to put a - in front of the Xmx so that it looks like this: -Xmx2048m
also you can use 2G as opposed to typing in 2048 (works fine with all gb representations)
so: -Xmx2G will work the same as -Xmx2048m
also unless a person wants to have to do this manually every time they restart they have dl a program like prio that saves system changes
p.s. be sure you know how much RAM you can allocate to java because too much allocation will cause the system to freeze and such
.....Sunny?

Thanks for the advice Tragic, I did notice that mistake not long after my post, but its made no difference in fixing the problem. I tend to allocate anything upto 2GB as im only rocking 4GB and Win 7 uses about 2

Hello molekula,
We're emailing you to let you know that the http://tankpit.com account "molekula" associated with this email is being deleted because it is inactive and has no tanks.
If you're interested, we'd invite you to try the game again (you'll have to register a new account). Many enhancements have likely been made since you last visited. Otherwise, your records are no longer in our database and you won't be contacted by us again.

mole pull it back to 1024 and sse if that knocks out the issue...this always requires a little tweaking for your system so do some trial and error and see where it gets you
also clear your java cache-this is something i had to do last night to make mine function properly after some testing as well
work in gigs and half gigs on the way back down
so 2 gb
1 1/2 gb
1 gb
512 mb
256 mb
find a happy medium that will make it work

I kinda doubt this parameter has anything to do with the problem....

yes it does
I know because I use the game site for my java guinea pig
I did it with this comp last night just to see just how much I could actually allocate before it crashed the browser well applet
you know where it just sits at the bottom of the screen and stays stationary even though you are scrolling the browser up and down
try it with yours and watch

Anyone know what a "Stack Overflow" error means? I get it every time I start my computer up now.

I'm using Windows 8 and it's been a long time since I've taken any kind of computer science class. Anyone care to walk me through this process?
