cheating
people keep saying everyone cheats, how do you cheat in this game? for example when i fire a shot i have to wait in a sequence, some people can shoot and tp out in way less time than i can. or shoot and move to a different location. if someone could explain the different kinds of cheating that would be cool, thanks.

typically when people refer to cheating, they are speaking in regards to tournaments. for instance, when people set up free kills so that they will have an easy way to rank up and potentially win a cup.

Chances are this is due to your internet being bogged down or your computer using a lot of resources. If it's your internet, you can remedy this by not having downloads going when you play. Streaming music, streaming videos, downloading files, etc... can leave little bandwidth available for playing, so your turns might be taking longer to reach the TankPit server.
Otherwise, some tips to help the game run a little bit faster on your computer. First, close other programs while you play. If you want to listen to music but iTunes is making you slower, you can jam out using your iPod, cell phone, etc...
Secondly, you can open your Task Manager while you're in the game lobby screen (i.e. where you can select the color of your tank) by pressing down CTRL+ALT+DEL (and selecting Task Manager from the menu if one comes up). Then open the Processes tab, look for java.exe, right click, and change the priority to High. You can probably set it to Realtime, but that could very well destabilize your system if it doesn't have enough resources to run essential tasks.
Also, if you've been using Java a lot, you can try to clear the Java memory by opening the Java console. I'm no computer wiz so the only way I know to do this is by going to the Control Panel and looking for Java (on Windows 7 you have to select the view of all Control Panel items). Double click that and it should open up the Java control panel. Go the the Advanced tab and change the option under Java console to "Show console." Click OK at the bottom. The next time you load the game (or any Java app, for that matter) a screen should pop up. If I find myself lagging noticeably in the game when no one else seems to be lagging, I usually make a point of executing the following commands:
- f: finalize objects on finalization queue
- g: garbage collect
- l: dump classloader list
- r: reload policy configuration
- s: dump system and deployment properties
- t: dump thread list
- v: dump thread stack
After that's done, the game is usually back to running smoothly and quickly.
It's funny. I realized that if I played a lot over a short period (i.e. 1-2 hours per day for 4 or 5 days in a row) on a single computer, I started to lose a little bit of my speed. After I started executing the commands above, I've usually been able to avoid getting any slower.
But bear in mind that timing can also play a huge role in how fast a player is. If you can time your clicks immediately after you end the previous turn, there's a good chance that you'll be able to get an extra turn versus someone who isn't timing their clicks as well.
