Favorite old map/memory of bf
I think we should take a time to reflect why we even play this game like we do and why we find it so much fucking fun that we no life shiners in 2 weeks.

Map: Rocks
Memory: That one night late in the running where Desert was randomly flooded with like 40 tanks, colors seemed even, and the most hectic play I've ever been a part of ensued.
Gonna see what I can dig up from that night...
EDIT: Took 16 minutes to find this viewtopic.php?f=49&t=7574 , apparently the night was December 19th, 2007
Gems from that night:

This was really really impressive activity for the end of 2007. The game went down just 5-ish months later

good find. I wonder if I was in that, I know the juices had some pretty epic battles that I was in. Good times, raiding/battling with juices probably one of the funnest times for me in bf.

wow thats crazy, i left before the game shut down i think or i JUST came back and was so sad it was gone lol. Moved on quickly to runescape untill i found out about utanks from josh's phone call at 6 am lol.
My favorite map was iceland, i think it was just sweet to have my dad play with me side by side and pwn shit up during the days we could both play. That was the best memory i'd say.

turning the skills i learned in d6 on tbe into a relatively casual decimation in desert on jean grey
the one perf/illusionz battle where we were severely outclassed early on, fell behind something like 7 to 0 and had to dig deep to turn the tide and eventually clear the map (even though i believe we may have still been behind on the kill count by the time they were gone)
being a part of both the perf and ae shitstorms while the teams were secret, and then watching as years later the community still utterly failed to learn as evidenced by the near mirror image of the AoW shitstorm
countless tournaments not even worth mentioning specifically

1) Passing Tonka Valley for holding the true #1 in deep six, being the only one to hit #1 that wasn't an idiot in that map.
2) The legendary 3 hour tournament where I was a 2nd pph colonel and didn't cup. Was hella fun switching back n forth with sean until he made general. I missed out on several colonels by 1 shot. Still mad fun tho.
3) Gold cup on DSF1. Probably my best tournament ever. All land on Apps, smoking the 2 constellations who faked the entire tournament and got diedowns.
4) Gold cup on my brother's "grizzly" tank. All land in deep six. 1st pph colonel and I don't think there was a single cheater in that tournament, and almost all of the top tourney players were there. This is the way I like to win.
5) Mining in wardog and killing him 1v1
6) Becoming a part of the aliens and experiencing some serious quality teamplay

I'll never forget that 3 hour knock. It wasnt supposed to be 3 hours right? I made general right before 2 hours, I was so stoked. LMAO thought I'd done hit a milestone making general in a tourny, when the fucking thing didnt end. Had to be at a dinner so everyone was waiting on my tourny to end, they wouldn't wait any longer. Meow finished the tourny for me, playing I think the last 45 minutes.

Rox then Desert were my fav maps.
Favorite memory in rox was my rusty at #2. Passing Flip to become the top blue was also a great memory.
Favorite memory in Desert was during an OPs/aliens battle. I was constantly getting targeted by Andy in team battles because 1) my internet would freeze up and I would be a free kill pretty much and 2) I got lower then most players. I was targeted twice. First take was nothing special, but my second take was probably my best take in BF. As a lieu I emptied out duals and ERs while shooting well over 100 shots. Lasted around 10 minutes but I did die in the end. I must add that every fuel during the raid that I tele'd to (on X5 there was almost no driving in raids) was real.
I noticed I'm in all three screenies of the 40 players in.
what a day that was.

That was probably the most fun I had playing on a team since TM's were really main tanks and I could never play another map for more then 30hours. First playbf.com team in Ice and just destroyed kids. Taught so many of you to tele-jack and we just rocked everyone. Its too bad my computer broke like 30 hours into Park Place and that was when I was playing Royal Mist too.
Most fun I had was 4-3-2v1ing so many people in Ice on TM3 and just circling the map for like 40mins at a time without anybody filling. Me, Kenny on Obsessions, Wardoggy, phoenix on main and painful death and sean on his painful, trig and tang, adam on SoMeBoDy, KnockKnock, inyourlefteye, so many wikids and painfuls and I think an orange team but I forget, dark frost when he wasn't being an ass, giant squid/neg charge when non-serg. So many people I can't remember. It was always every man for himself and had some amazing little battles trapping, fuel stealing, etc. Intense fights for sure.
I remember a one raid in particular on TM3 right before I got battle like ~47 deaths tanking a raid at gen with 3mil pp. I remember being TR in the skull in a 5v1 and like 10 straight teles I couldn't see my fuel and somehow surviving. Don't think my heart every raced so hard playing BF.
Also remember my first single star stealing a LT kill from Bushwacker and immediately running away and quiting. My first triple star I got gold tank at the same time and then found out how to take screen shots like 10mins later when Eric told me. Ferry raids on red with Dilligaf's, Stealth panther, old man laundry, deathsteelcobra, and many more with my old TM3 tank. Digitized Madness getting triple star at like 190 hours at #7 or something.
So many good Ice memories. Such a fun map.

Favorite old map was, without a doubt, Apps. My first ever triple star was on some tank I made named ZIPCODE... I killed SQUID1 (he was #1 at the time) on some random homer. I didn't even realize I got the kill for like 2 minutes until I scrolled over my tank and saw I was a general. Happiest moment of my bf career probably.
I could go off and name 40-50+ tanks from Apps I used to play with. So much fun. I can remember being in 5th grade and day-dreaming about battlefield during school. During Literature one time we were reading some book and I had to read out-loud and the word "general" came up and I just stopped reading midsentence and started thinking of battlefield.

Hahahaha!
The ferry raids were awesome! That and the red mob of noobs around 02-03. Good times.
And the battles in Ice were always so much fun. It was never about raiding anyone and everyone who wasn't your friend. It was about trying to kill everybody.
And to strike back, one of my best memories is killing knock 1v1 Gen vs Gen. I was so low by the time I killed him that I barely managed to tele 5 spaces across the water to a bigger island.
And I did it with a Pokemon X5 skin, too!
Honestly, there was no map as fun as Iceland in my opinion. Most people played legit and most people played solo and went for the kill on everyone every time. You know, the way the game was designed to be played. :)

All time favorite map was Desert followed by rocks and apps.
My favorite moment was when I was really in my prime, I was on Frosty's AYS team and we had just got done raiding and the map was fairly dry when the States started swarming in the map. I started taking their 5-1 as the other AYS cleared out a sudden lag and 6 more states popped in like Smiths in The Matrix Reloaded. The fight went from the SW corner of the map and I emptied somewhere near the center of the map about 8 minutes later. I was able to capture 15 homers hitting me in a SS, and I remember Alabama messaging me on aim calling me a bastard because he emptied all his duals on my AYS colonel. The other colors tagged along trying to kill me and it ended up being a 15-18 v 1 with everyone shooting the only orange left. By far my most memorable moment.

A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing he cares more about than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature who has no chance of being free, unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.
