Road runner is fast.. I wonder if a wirless connection from a laptop makes any difference in the results. My results also from a wifi laptop.
Depends on your wireless card on your laptop. Many laptops limit your connection. Only way to really know is to test both wired and wireless on the same computer from my understanding. I'm not sure if the newer laptops have this problem, as I haven't actually tested it in years.

Ill check it out tonight. My connection is blazing at home. I wonder.. If i shut off 10+ wireless devices connected ( 2 smart tv, ps3, phones etc) would it make a slight difference. Testing tonight !

Only time those things would have any effect is when they are on and connected to the internet. This game doesnt demand a loy of bandwidth so a insane connection should be less noticable diffrent from anything 3.0 and up. Ping is going to be the most important aspect. I dont even think a new gaminy comp makes much of a diffrence over something 5 years old. Tech is way ahead of tgis game and tvus i think its created a pretty even playing field. The people in this game that are fast are mostly fast because of skill. Not sure of the tricks myself but after 1000 hours of play im sure you pick up a few tricks.

Agreed. The fastest players in this game are usually playing almost instinctively. For example, they can usually tell when someone is likely to teleport, when someone is likely to move, are able to time their clicks such that they spend as little time as possible without any moves queued in-game, and can generally tell how likely someone is to move in a particular direction during a raid.
For instance, if you teleport in any kind of pattern, there are players who will be able to fairly consistently teleport to the same screen as you one or more turns before you land there.
This was what made Elements the toughest team to take a raid from early in the game and what made AOW so effective when they showed up. If you didn't plan 2 moves ahead, you were 2 moves behind.

And people don't think you can get better at this game. Lol.
Try raiding without homers on a few times but never shooting the ground. I started doing this in 2-1s and it's funny how soft you become on the spacebar. Then you get in a raid situation and while you're on the target's ass everyone else shoots a homer then eight shots hit the ground where the target was. You'll lol.

I think the hardest technique to master as raiding someone for example in an 8v1 is
Prediction teles.
I don't remember which AoW player does it I believe they're two people. But, man they do it as good as me or even better.
Call Out : Hurley he does a fucking incredible job at it . Not only is he fast but hes smart and accurate.
Fuck speed.. I need to get my raiding taking straight before I even consider speed a factor

This. I've learned this skill a lot and ive also employed what el brought up as well, the art of prediction and pre teleing at the right moment is tough to master and im still working on it alot. The way i go about using homings/missiles when raiding I think is unique to myself, it all depends on what i plan to accomplish in the raid. If i dont need the kill ill tend to go about keeping homers and missiles on full time and ill focus mainly on the outskirts of fuel on his screen. If i want the kill ill tend to make sure im in position to shoot duals only and ill consistently go for the fuel steal/mine on his teleport, a lot of people are off on their teleports by at least 1 or 2 pixels(myself included, more than id like to admit) and if you plan your teles right youll be on their fuel a good 85% of the time. I Think Amnesty, Knock, Crusher and Wardog are the only ones i really see consistently landing on the fuel they aim for. I think the best feeling/funniest thing to happen in the game is when you're raiding someone and you pre tele them so hard on their fuel and you mine them, and they shoot back thinking they got their first and die with shields on. Ive had this occur a couple times now and its such a win. AOWs pulled this on me when they first came out, i wasnt used to their kind of speeds so they were consistent in killing me(and many others) within 5 or less screens.
As for the techy side of speed, clean your computers. Ive been lagging like fuck lately and i couldnt come up with a reason as to why, cause even on my laptop wireless i was still consistently fast and out teleing a lot of the faster players. Ive taken some shameful raids the past 2 weeks, due to people out shooting me 2-1. In mob situations forget about that shit, im waiting to shoot a guy while everyone else is getting 2-3 shots off. So last night i emptied a good 180 Gigs of shit i didnt need on my computer onto my terabyte. I got raided by purps and it wasnt even funny how fast everything was running. I was no longer getting lagged, my moves were all registering and armors and map was coming up when it should. I sill can empty another 150 gigs off my computer too, i might just do it later tonight.

timing teleports is easy. Pay attention to the person youre raiding, when they stop shooting shoot once more and than wait half a turn and hit f. when your map appears they will have just teleported. Then you can teleport with the homing shots and easily plant some mines or get in a kill shot. This doesnt work for newbs who stall on map screen however and is a piss off when you open map and they havnt teleported, close map and theyre gone.

I actually just talked to Hulk the other week about this sort of thing. Back about 10 years ago I had a new computer and cable modem before most other people. I was one of the fastest in the game. Now I find myself on a much more level playing field. I also agree that the "fast" players in TP are fast because of practice. As much as I don't want to admit it lefty plays VERY fast because hes put in a zillion hours of practice. Along with crucher, knock, Uranium, Amnesty. I have been getting better at taking raids and staying as unpredictiable as possible. There is a HUGE differance fighting 4 random orange tanks and fighting 4 AoW because of that pre teleporting/mining style of play. I've put in 100 hours since returning and this is the most difficult aspect to recapture. Although I will say I got the lefty and 007 general kills because mining/pre teleporting.
I miss TP
