How does Tankpit generate revenue?
I've always wondered how websites with no advertisements make money.

I always thought it didn't make money, free game no profits. It must cost to host the game so there is a (or some) generous people out there letting us play and paying for it. Although if I was the owners I would stick some advertising on the website to generate a little income for the upkeep of the game.

I believe they will once there is a large player base. Having advertisement now would counteract that.

I do not think it is a not for profit company. Even if it is, not for profit companies still need revenue to pay their employees and overhead costs.

There weren't any ads on playbattlefield.com either.

TP could sell information to Google and Facebook regarding how much time your IP spends on the TankPit website so that those two can better target their ads at you.
Same with uTanks, except they have an advantage because they require an e-mail activation. Google and Facebook can track where and how often you use that e-mail address to register for other websites and determine effective marketing techniques any time you log in somewhere with that account name.
Here's an example:

No, the ads were a part of the business model used on Bonus.com.

Does anyone know who is running the game right now? is it old members of Bonus.com just doing it on there own or has the Bonus.com people opened it back up
edit: considering bonus.com no longer exist I guess its not them.

Unbent media owned the rights to battlefield. They offered to give the rights to the ut staff in turn for the ut staff reworking the game/splitting the profits with unbent. bsg turned that down tho. Im assuming sw found the email, contacted unbent and took them up on their offer.

So it seems the consensus is that SW is running tankpit? SW=General Lucy???
If that's true, I regret writing a love letter to General Lucky :(

He's being sarcastic. When SW didn't win a DoT during the first month, it was apparent that he was in on the TP project ;) He was always an award hound.

A lot of websites don't make money they are just run as a hobby.
Most new websites also do not make money.
Time will tell, maybe TankPit will introduce something in the future.

Yea, maybe Pinky's Battlefield Base. Running a game such as TankPit can rack up quite extensive bills. Few people would spend thousands of dollars out-of-pocket to run a game as a hobby.

Because their revenue does not exceed expenses. But they still generate revenue. My question is how does TankPit generate revenue?

My guess is that it doesn't at this moment in time.
I also have my suspicions over who is involved...I thought certain peoples' involvement was obvious. They let slip on the forums things they should not. Maybe it's just because I'm the only one who reads every single post and always has
