Re: This is gonna be Controversial
I believe TP will improve things but it probably won't be done for a few months so yes in the short term it's up to the players to stop being gay in tournaments.
In my experienced opinion I don't think it's that hard.
1. Play tournaments without knowing who any of your friends are and without talking to them.
2. Don't die down at the end for any reason and don't accept FKs from random players or your friends. Winning by cheating is worthless, you're better off to lose.
3. When you lose to cheaters, zero their reputation, forget they exist, ban them, whatever is necessary to outcast them.
4. If you suspect people will cheat don't let them run off alone to take a FK, shoot them for PPH, try to kill them, keep your eyes open for where they are, etc. It is not hard to beat cheaters if you steal one of their FKs, and stealing an attempted FK is not cheating as long as you are in no way associated with them.

Just act like you don't know the community exists when you play a tournament and sign off everything.

Well tournaments have always been a lone wolf activity, before AIM blast chats the only people who remained on AIM where probably cheating or gave up playing the tourney.

This thread is awfully painful to read so I only made it about halfway through it.
Mobbing won't really work tbh. It might work some %age of the time but people won't be willing to chase after someone who is teleporting right when they land every time. It's not hard to run in this game...lefty can easily take 9v1 in the regular map running his ass off. People will focus too much on PPH because they are trying to win and will fall back if they chase a running lunatic.

The running lunatic will be ran out of the map - if he just has to keep running he cant pph or take free kills. As elliot said it would only work if the raiders are relentless. Plus - ducking raids as a general is MUCH MUCH easier than doing it as a lieutenant. A general can teleport almost the entire diagonal distance of the map. A lieutenant not nearly so far. Plus tournament tends to have a dry spell around 45 minutes? Try a marathon in that as a lieut with 15 players tailing you. Impossible to win the cup.
It's just an idea anyway. I don't think I've emptied on larger than 7v1 which imo is too many raiders especially for castles. So yea ur probably right that I would run from a 9v1. Hey look another canadian who can't stop crying about me!
You took that too far, the rest of your post is more than enough.

Stick to the topic, derogatory remarks directed at players are not appreciated. Quit or it will be deleted.

Lefty,
Like I said...it will work some %age of the time (if you read this). I highly doubt anyone is going to "relentlessly" take themselves out of the running of the tournament. It will work when the person being targetted dies in 1-2 screens..but if they get away, it's not hard for them to run to the other side of the map and start cheating again.

Raiders could potentially make colonel and have a better chance of making major than the average "selfish" player. We'll see how it works I wanna try it out some time perhaps.

yes lefty will make sure he sets up a raiding group while getting fks, send his goon squad out after other people in the running. We need to stop giving him new ideas.

its going to be funny when you and your goonies go and mob someone whos legit and got a legit kill because it appears nobody in this game believes in real kills and calls everyone out unless they reveal before hand.

He did get a free kill sylar. It was Zenta though not you, that was my error. Zenta felt like it and kyle can't really be blamed for that. The perpetual cycle continues.

im curious to see how tp handles this. Considering the constant scrutinizing of utanks by sw due to reasons like fk detection and tourny mods etc etc im interesting to see how he reviews whatever changes tankpit makes.
But to stay on topic, guys I understand everyone wants a cup, usually more then one. But while all this cheating is going on, stop playing tournaments. hell stop playing the real game. Send them emails everyday you dont play. You think theyre going to watch 10 players basically quit the game? 20? 30? who knows. Say something, maybe they send some more warnings out and start acting on the multiple offenders.
But if your basically going to bitch every tourny but still play them + the main map who cares. Its not like its hurting the end result, the game remains active the players remain grumpy. Status quo continues.

81 pages is tl;dr
How about we make a tournament blast chat? There would be enough people in there probably to be able to account for every kill. Plus, we would need communication to be able to do anything against others who are also communicating.

and the people not in the blast chats? what about them. they have a huge disadvantage all because a group of players are using fire to fight fire.
coordinating is not the way to go unless it can be done using the in game messages.

It would not be coordinated. it would be a general discussion of the tourney at hand.

the idea im hearing is these discussions would be about whos cheating, and where they are so you guys can mob em out of the map. not saying the idea wouldnt work, sure, maybe you could kill a cheater every now and then or get other peoples eyes on whos cheating. But saying this isnt an unfair advantage to those outside of this chat circle is pretty silly. Just by being in this chat, I could continue pphing and wait till the chat blows up saying 'x player is cheating! hes going to be getting his fk soon!' boom. now I know who to watch for, hell im sure the nice people in this chat will go as far as giving constant co ords of where this guy is making it even easier for me. Or I can wait until a group of you decide to mob this guy, pay attention to the chat and no doubt someone will say something along the lines of 'woah hes definitely got no armors' etc i can hop on and bink a kill.
Not to mention the sheer outrage that will surely happen when you guys mob and kill someone legit because no one in your chat was around. the idea is majorly flawed no offense and is basically another way to legitimately cheat.
Like I said, take the route me and a hell of alot of other players took and just stop playing them. Explain to tp why your not playing them, and how the full game can't even be enjoyed because it basically encourages blatant cheating to occur with no action taken to stop it. Or keep playing for the glory and beat those cheaters and feel like a champ.
Its tps move now, idk what they could do to combat the rampant cheating, but theres nothing we can do thats for sure.

I agree that a tournament blast chat is not the solution after your critique.
I'm going to play tournaments when I can, regardless if the screw crew is cheating or not. I could still beat a cheating coward or at least cup if I played a good enough tourney and got some kills.

I still don't think you need a blast chat to have a mob in game. It happened in Atlantis naturally.
