A new bf/tp being made
https://gitorious.org/qttanks#more
I knew I was seeing TiP viewing the forums. I did some looking online today, and this came up. The name Riley P was the signer. If anyone remembers correctly, that was TiP's name...?
I just thought this should be brought to the communities attention, you're all welcome.

this is never going to work. Why is there such a demand for people making these games but yet no demand for people to play them rofl.

Wow can you imagine 3 games with our current player base?
That said, if it is marketting right and not reliant on our player base, which im asuming it's not considering how we found out then i suppose it could hit off.
Regardless, I'll probably stay with tp providing the cheating is not prevalent and the staff still give attention to the game. If it's not broke, no need to fix it ;D

See, it will be a separate entity. If you looked he said that, and it was recently began. I will not transfer, if it is ever a finished project. This should be stopped, but I guess we can split the fucking community again, lolol.

Competition is always good. Obviously there is a downside.
The best game will win but the emergence of a new game is going to motivate Andy, Kevin and TP developers to pull their socks up and try harder to retain market share.

Also, I'll definitely be giving the new game a chance like I did with uTanks and TP.

Easy to say you're making a video game, a lot harder to actually do it and finish it. 99% this project never comes to fruition and it's pointless to talk about.
P.S. - Writing in C++ is almost as bad as uTanks' choice of C#/XNA in terms of ease of getting players to try it.

Agreed, this new game is where uTanks was 3-4 years ago according to the page. Will be interesting to see how the devs of both games react to this and whether they think this is a realistic threat to them or not.

Well, just throwing this out as well... If any of you remember TiP, then I believe you know the chances of him actually being a real dev...
long story short, he wasn't very bright.

Surprise appearance.
Show me emergence, I show you sox. =)
Depends on your perspective. What happened to Sun Microsystems again?
I highly doubt this project was a random find. Also, uTanks and Tankpit are not the same game. They have similar origins, but different aims. Tankpit is much more traditional than the ever evolving (sometimes too much evolving) uTanks. I think it is pretty clear that this was the intention. Not trashing on what they have done with Tankpit. I havent only seen screenshots, maybe entered the game once as a guest, but I like how they immediately started working on getting more visuals on the screen and less text. It's a good UX oriented vision, which is really what SW was always good at. uTanks is not this way. While UX is important, oftentimes functionality and some of the more boring (but challenging) things take the focus. We also coded uTanks literally from scratch, so naturally stabilization and release candidate recycling was very prominent. Either way, the best way I can compare the way I see uTanks and Tankpit (and any other similar game) is like the thousands of first person shooter iterations. We've seen it all, really. Different controls, different features, different environments, different storylines. Same basic concept. Think about it-- we've still never seen anything like Battlefield, Tankpit, or uTanks. Third person view, less than full screen client. Basic and easy to pick up, but also with less repetition than Galaga and more room for competition and player growth within the game. I'd dare to suggest that we are creating a new sub genre, restriking the balance lost with Battlefield.
It isn't as simple as this versus mentality. Then again, maybe this is my idealistic young person ego begging for social back patting. *shrugs*

Battlefield was one of MANY games on http://www.bonus.com/ and I really don't even remember how my brother stumbled upon that game. This also really helped the steady supply of fresh blood, newbies. A word foreign to this community.
uTanks / TankPit are seperate sites with hardly any chance of gaining new players, just the old complaining cranky community. Small town atmosphere, we all know each other and remember the past like it was yesterday.

This must be a trick question, because I didn't eat breakfast.

January 2012 events over at uTanks likely caused some deep emotional trauma with a lot of the community involved, which probably in turn resulted in them locking away a lot of post-Battlefield memories up until that point. Just a theory.
