At this point and time, I've really just have stopped giving a shit. Between being cheated out of tourneys consistently with 4th place finishes, whether or not someone takes a depo, plans the cheating or whatever. Its at the point where ive just accepted that these kids live a pathetic life. So now, i just play with the expectations of being fucked.

I could care less whos in the main map as well. At this point the usual suspects are expected to be in, and i just ignore them for the most part. I agree with Hurley, balls to the wall is the most exciting part of the game. Although my tank may not have heroic (it is close) but between all my tanks ive taken an immense amount of raids. Doesnt mean im a boss player but i still play as hard as i can to try and give everyone a run for their money. When youre constantly in danger of dying the adrenaline keeps pumping and then 4 hours can go by without a problem.

All the little bitching i do is just momentary rage to blow steam off because some cat just fucked me over and im a get something done kind of guy, but unfortunately you cant rearrange a dudes face via keyboard.

I'm not a gamer outside of tankpit. I play this game only, i dont even have a system. LAst one i owned was ps2. Battlefield was the only game that i ever really put hours in, and because this IS battlefield is the reason ive invested so much time in it. And as of late ive lost some motivation because of how much time ive put in, but im basically just playing minimal amounts until i really get back in the swing of things. Even though the game is outdated it still hosts a lot of fun. you dont need realistic graphics to make a game more fun. This has the core essentials of SIMPLICITY, simple has always trumped the complicated. The games competitive as fuck and its a challenge (as long as you challenge yourself). But people want it easy and want everything handed out to them.

The community has expectations but at this point theres so many people just playing to specifically annoy others its not even worth a bother. Im just going to play my style thats unique to me, and hopefully with new players they learn by example rather than me or us forcing it down their necks. Theres some guys who are willing to learn and its good to reach out to them. I learned my way of respect through the players i idolized when i started playing. Hopefully the good will outshine the bad.

Who are you to tell someone theyre wrong if they enjoy pphing over taking raids, running over dying etc. They still have a right to play just dont have a right to post on this forum imo. This isnt directed at anyone in particular just putting my 2 cents in. Everyone plays for different reasons and youll never change that. What ever gives someone motivation to play such a simple mostly boring game flies imo, so long as its not considered cheating (speedhack, tourny cheating, etc)

I accept it i dknt come on here bitchi.g at lefty foe pphing for hours hell i dont even bitch to much about the scrubs that tag raids, flop colors, and pph without ever taking a raid. Simple point you cant rank from fags that kill you but never even allow you once the chance to kill them. Ranking up means owning raids longer and having more fun. Go pph only whatever but if you tag a raid take a raid at keast at some point take a raid and pay your reapects.

Im a gamer i play cod multi and zombies. I only have time for kne gane though because life outways gaming and im not 14 anymore. I play with the same logic in all my games i want to be the best in tankpit i want to be the best raid taker in cod i want the best k/d or the highest lvls and kills in zombies. Just because im not chasing my way up the t25 doesnt mean im not a gamer.

By gamer do you mean someone who is looking for the most modernized game to come out? Mortal Kombat 3/Trilogy and Super Mario World for Super NES were my gaming fixes back in the day. I got into the Goldeneye and other 007 games for PS1 a little bit, but stopped playing video games almost altogether after I sold my systems.

This game is designed for a very (very very very very very) small specific niche of players, expecting it to grow much beyond what it currently is, is just wishful thinking.

And it seems 95% of us are old school from back in the day, you show this to a modern game and they will laugh at it. Thats what im trying to say, expecting it to grow just from "honorable" play is just not gonna happen.

What is classified as good play is different from player to player, some people may consider allowing yourself to be ganged up on without proper back up as bad play.

Like in Call of Duty, a wall huggin shotgunnin faget may be considered good play for some, or a back of the map with a sniper rifle camping cunt may be what that person considers great play

Any game with a game mode such as capture the flag or king of the hill, going in alone is just a bad idea, but some people will do it anyways to be a hero.

Basedgod's idea of great play is obviously never allowing himself to be out numbered and thus never dying. Which in most games that IS considered excellent play.

I see your point. In Battlefield the best players were viewed as those who could withstand raids on raids. This thought process carried over for some of us who play now, but hasn't for others or it has change in some people's minds. Personally, I'm open to hearing differing opinions when people present them like you do.

Edit: I only get frustrated when I see unnecessary flaming. It's contagious and isn't conducive to a growing community. I don't mind how anyone else plays because I realize I can't control it. That doesn't mean people's views on the game can't be heard. They may or may not be valid in the majority of people's opinions, but the Board is here for that reason.

Re: The health of the game.

Postby Kalamiti » Fri Sep 07, 2012 12:55 pm

I'm not proposing any solutions lol, just what I see as the problem.

I would just like to see more dying in 1v1 scenarios. I would like more tools to use to kill someone, more strategy involved. I don't believe it should be the only way to rank up is to grab 5 buddies and gang up on one guy and pray your shot gets the kill.

A prestige system or something would be nice, different game modes like say a capture the flag or something, or king of the hill, game modes with objectives.

Like for capture the flag make it so theres no fuel, but moving and whatnot doesnt cost anything, also teleporting is disabled. Obviosly for any of those game mode ideas it would require alot of restrictions and whatnot to work out, but it would add something new and fun into the game.

And something I've also noticed is people only get called for good raid taking if they ultimately die, the other day in elements I took 6-7 purples and survived twice emptying my duals and radars both times, no one said anything about that, the only raids ive been congradulated on are the ones I died in.

No teleporting would be interesting. You would have to make the maps a lot different though.

I noticed the same when people take and live. I just take it as people too proud to admit they got owned. :hah: :hammertime: . If I were there I'd have given you props.

Yeah, of course the maps would be smaller, probably about 1/4 of the current size, like take one of the castles in castles and there ya go, some strategy would be involed, you'd have a group to get the flag, a defending group, you'd want a group to lay mines to slow down the flag takers, would be fun as fuck! lol

Infinite equip, no fuel, radars on cooldown, say 1 minute, so you'd have to coordinate your radaring as a team to find mines. Possibly no extra radars, just reg radars. everyones a general and stays that way. Rewards for winning, lesser reward for losing, something that could be applied to maybe your main tank in regular play. Maybe points or say a free "Kill" to use when you need to rank. Like your choice, if you win a game you get either 15k points applied to your tank, or a free rank kill token, each rank requiring one extra token to use to rank, so a sergeant would be worth 1 token, lieut 2, capt 3, colonel 5.

You can't tell me that wouldnt be a blast and add a new and exciting element to the game while keeping the whole concept of the game in tact, WAR lol.

^^ This is what I said after someone tried to call me out for "long teleing"
If you somehow manage to survive, and you arent someone who the majority of the community likes you will undoubtedly be bashed for even the slightest thing they think you did wrong. Oh you teled more than 2 inches on the map, you hopped in the water for 2 fuel packages because the entire map around you was dry, you had to quick tele a few times because the fuel stash you hit wasnt as big as you expected. These are all things people have attempted to call me out on since ive been back. Yet when I see someone do the same exact things and in the end die, they get complimented.
Everyones play style is different, I dont see people trying to destroy lefty's morale because he doesnt want to take a raid. Everyones goal in this game is different, Some enjoy the boring feat of being in the "true" top 25, while others enjoy taking raids. I for one get the most satisfaction during a multi-colored mob, frequently changing targets, but get crucified for "tagging along".

Comon folks, smoke a j :smoke: and open your minds.

Yeah man agreed, I just wish there was more to do, I've gotten pretty bored already, and i havnt even got my shiner yet :(

I think you were actually in that raid against me, assuming your that purple trunks tank. You guys almost had me the first run, i ran out of armors and fuel was gettin scarce, but I found a TON of equip, like 12 pieces then tele'd away, you guys chased me, I found another screen with a ton of fuel, and i bounced back and fourth between the 2 spots, got my armors filled back full and picked up another like 20 duals, was pretty pro. Then I emptied my duals and realized I only had 3 radars left as well and called BRB lol. filled back up, and took you guys again and lived. I was capt at the time.

lol I said most, Ive only been playing cod since MW2, and your wow character is quite impressive lol. Black Ops and MW3 Ive maintained a 2.6 KD ratio though.

I havnt played RS in about 6 years, graduated to a better game (WoW), i think i was lvl 109 though i dont know what comp cape is, but i got the fire cape my first try back in the day, with a ranged lvl that was considered too low to even try lol.

This game though only has what? 50 active/semi-active players? thats a pathetic number of players lol and the only way I see it growing is with change to appeal to the modern gamer.

Doesn't matter if there are 5 active players, most players don't know how to handle anything more then 3 tanks shooting at them and you're no exception.

That depends on the map, I HATE maps with a ton of water, seems like theres never any fuel on land, on those maps yeah, I would struggle against 3, most people do, thats why activity on those maps is so low. But in a map like rocks and swamps, desert, the pit, elements, I can handle 5+ tanks without much issue.

And this coming from you is like calling the kettle black, Yeah you take those raids, but I've NEVER seen you live very long lol.

Its cool though, all 16 of you can keep denying that the game doesnt need change and its fine the way it is.

Whatcha gonna do though when the site is taken down again cause not enough people play and the devs don't care?

Yea buddy, discredit me from an aspect of the game that most players avoid. I try new things when I take on raids, havn't seen you in lately, so it seems you just like to talk shit in this thread more then anything. You can't hang and I'm sure we will never hear from you again after this thread.

This is my last post to your whiny ass in this thread. See you on the field (which I doubt)

What do you try? Dying quicker? and yeah you may not see me on the field, and if you do I probably won't be on very long lol. I want to play, but I'm bored, I wanna see some change, its so sad that its almost EXACTLY the same as it was 12 years ago. This game needs some real developers to take over, I dunno how you can consider yourself a developer if you don't develop shit.

The point of this thread was to try and get it through peoples heads that its not the play styles of the players thats gonna make this game thrive again, THIS GAME CAN'T THRIVE AGAIN, its way too outdated to hold any ground against modern games.

the point of this thread was to complain. Who do you think can make the changes you want on this forum? Send an email to the devs and tell them how pissed you are. While youre at it, send an email to the devs of every game that doesn't interest you.

First, you didn't make the thread. 2nd the devs won't listen to one guys opinion, seems the general consensus is "Me and my 12 friends like the game the way it is and have so for 10+ years, we don't like change" Half the responses from people on this thread also don't play much. I don't need to send emails to devs of other games cause they know what theyre doing, they constantly put out a healthy amount of extra content to keep me happy and playing. This game does nothing new. So sad. : (

i said email the devs of the games you dont like. If the game bores you dont play. Nothings going to be changed, sadly, so this thread is irrelevant. What do you want changed specifically? You know if you thought up some good ideas you could send them to the devs for a lightbulb, and contribute towards the growth of the game rather than complain pointlessly to people who enjoy the game as is. Or, you could go and support utanks who have plans on expanding the game past the simplicity of battlefield. Your choice. Im not trying to insult you either just explain why this thread and all of the posts are essentially useless and your time is better being spent doing something else.

This is something I don't understand, The lightbulb award is awarded all the time, yet still nothing is changed. And I said this earlier, utanks is a superior game but just no player base yet. Or i would play it instead.

I would really like to see a map with just 2 colours.

The activity it would generate would be insane.
It would reduce colour switching. It honestly would be fricking awesome.

How's about a map with no colours? FREE FOR ALL! that would be sick, or there should be a new colour, like green thats rogue and can attack anyone.

People will always complain about the game just like they always complain about the government. In the end they play it for fun, or they take a break and come back months later to play some more. It's always been like that. Drama is part of the game and it would probably die fast without drama. I think the health of the game seems OK considering the small number of players. It would always be nice to have more of course.

Many people love to suggest huge obvious game changes without thinking through the consequences. Like no colors, for example. That would take probably 50 hours for the devs to implement and then you'd realize after 5 minutes that it would suck to actually play. BF was successful for a long time so you shouldn't underestimate its power. Of course it could be modernized, but unless you're willing to submit new graphics which are better than the old ones, it's not going to modernize itself, and you have no right to complain about it (well, maybe you have a right to do whatever you want, but it won't help). We might all agree that it would be nice to modernize the graphics but whose going to do it?
