I don't agree with you here. The idea is to shoot back as much as possible while also trying to survive, by emptying duals or using up all of the raiders' equipment. You don't want to be a free kill, you need to let them earn taking your rank.
Going for equipment really kills me. 70% of the time it's duals over shields and that's a move I could have done to fill my fuel up.

I am going to have to agree with both what's his name and hurley on this. In my opinion the idea is to survive but push your limits. However, the only way to truly own a raid is to get low every tp and survive, or get low every tp and survive for a long tie. And long time can be anything it really just depends on how many are on you. So while the idea is to survive, if you want to own you need to be working on getting low every tp. If you can get low every tp and only use shields on homing missiles you are going to own that raid regardless if you die or not.
My only goal in this game is to own raids and own at raiding. If you see me looking like shit or doing something stupid and dieing. Its all just a work in progress. Ill take the stupid death if the end result is improvement. I am not going to lie from day one till now all I want is to be one of the top five raid takers. So when I raid someone my standards may be a little higher than others. However, this is just a game and we are all just having fun so if you cant take a death you have some serious issues. And hurley that last comment is not directed at you so please don't take offense to it.

I take raids for myself, and for the raiders... Depends on my mood, if I don't mind ranking down I give you guys the kill basically by trying to use shields every screen to make me get really low. I still last awhile. Although, when I am preserving rank, and making it beast. I will make sure to take the raid, and not really say well they hit me to a lower shade of color. I go off of when they land, how much fuel I have, and amount of raiders, land forms and blockage around me. These things are what determine my takes. If I'm taking and notice all shooting dual lines, I may skip that screen and grab fuel then shoot 2-3 shots next screen.
Raid taking is all preferences.

Solid posts by all. To take a raid is to stay alive but getting low enough the nobody complains and not running. To own a raid you have to be low as possible each tele and take for a while or survive.
Like hays said it all depends on how many, how many are about to shoot duels and many more things you have to take into consideration when taking a raid.
