Went to a special event for a select few Ford Sales Consultants (ya, i was promoted at work to sales) and was able to check stuff out before it officially opened to the public. Got some pictures of a modded sho taurus and a fusion.
Here is the gallery to them: http://img96.imageshack.us/g/dscn0750o.jpg/ Also got to check out the new 5.0L mustang and stuff. _________________ ![]() ![]() "LoL I was a straight up fucking STUD in Battlefield" - Blade |

SHO fails. Even at $30k, it looks like it's aimed at too old of a crowd to gain any massive following. If the styling was a little younger, it'd be ok.

At least its only 30K in the U.S. Here in Canada, these things go for 48-55K. But then again, it is a luxury full sized sport sedan.

I was just throwing that price out there as a guess. If it's above $45k, it's definitely set to fail. It's got competition from powerhouses like BMW, Mercedes, Lexus, Cadillac, and Infinity.
Oh, and how could I forget about the Hyundai Genesis? Yeah. It's a bust, IMO. _________________

I dunno what the pricing for the SHO's competition is in the U.S. But here in Canada the SHO retails for 50-54K Cdn. Now you are getting 365hp/350lb-ft twin turbo V6. It's a great engine that pumps out the power of a BMW with a V8. An interesting comparison to watch is the Motor Trend episode where they pin up the V6 TwinTurbo from ford in an MKS against cars way out of its league.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y35AxmibRGE Thats the link, its a multi part series. Now you to have to consider they are driving at a high altitude, V6 vs V8 and lincoln is seen as worlds apart from the other vehicles. Now, comparing a lincoln MKS to a Quattroporte is just behind me. I love ford vehicles but i would take the Maserati without hesitation. The point is that for much less money, 2 less cylinders, u can get something that comes close in performance. The rest is either preference, luxury interior, or dick measuring. _________________ ![]() ![]() "LoL I was a straight up fucking STUD in Battlefield" - Blade |

Some good lucking cars my man. and congratulations on the promotion. Sebas, the new SHO is sick nasty. If you haven't driven one, then you can't just tell by the specs. Lincolns are built to last, which is fords slogan, or used to be.

It actually starts at $38k. Who in the world would buy a Taurus for that price? 14 second quarter mile for $40k?

You have to be aware that Ford is shifting their line up of vehicles towards a premium standard (whereas companies that use to be in that area, Volkswagon, is now trying to grab more amrket share by lowering costs and cheapening vehicles) and a Taurus is a fine vehicle. You may be attaching the thought/image of an older Taurus or previous ideas to this new price.
Thats like saying you wont buy a hyundai cuz they are slow and have shit quality. Thats true but that company has amde huge strides and the fit/finish/quality/performance of the vehicles being produced by them is nothing to shrug off. You cant under value a product because you assume it should be priced in a cheap pricing bracket. Now if you see/drive the vehicle and still think it's not worth its pricetag.....then start comparing it to other vehicles in the same price range. See what you get for the money from other makers _________________ ![]() ![]() "LoL I was a straight up fucking STUD in Battlefield" - Blade |

Lexus, Toyota, same brand of cars, just different names and features... _________________ ![]()

Classy business men would not pull up in a Taurus. They drive foreign cars. I used to valet at a hotel where most guests were in town on business. There is a reason we fought each other for the Mercedes, BMWs, Porsches, and Audis (none of which are "AMERICAN" cars). It is the same reason we would try to pawn the Tauruses off on each other. That reason is: class=tips. F-16 wrote: a Taurus is a fine vehicle. You may be attaching the thought/image of an older Taurus or previous ideas to this new price. Perhaps you yourself are suffering from an insecurity rooting to what I quoted? Notice I didn't say anything about preconceived notions about Ford. My "40k for a Taurus" comment was noting that it is nearly twice as much as a base trim Taurus. _________________

of course its twice as much as a base trim vehicle. It's twin turbo with all sorts of other options whereas the base is a turnkey vehicle with minimal equipment.
It's a wide spread between base and fully loaded but Ford is moving towards offering a premium vehicle within each model. Thats why you have an F-150 Platinum, EcoBoost Flex/MKT/SHO/MKS and rumour is they are bringing in these vehicles under a "Titanium" nameplate. So far i've only heard of the Flex taking that name and it will be the top of the line of each model. _________________ ![]() ![]() "LoL I was a straight up fucking STUD in Battlefield" - Blade |

1. So I guess you guys were selectively blind to the part where I pointed out Cadillacs as fitting the descriptions set out there.
2. Why the hell would you try to make TWO different cars out of ONE nameplate? Do you see Honda/Toyota/Chevrolet/BMW/etc... marketing an entry level vehicle for one price and then throwing in a bigger engine and boost for another vehicle segment altogether? No. Do you want to know why? A model carries a certain description and whatnot based on the name alone. You think Cobalt, you think entry-level, sport compact car. So do you see why it would be a bad idea for Chevy to throw in a TT V6 into the Cobalt without changing the nameplate and then turning the base price for that entirely DIFFERENT model into something along the lines of 2-2.5 times the base price of a regular Cobalt? _________________

No GM will market two (or 3) identical models and change a couple things here and there. It's annoying. We all know its the identical car being sold under different brands.
It's good that Ford is giving mercury the axe as all those cars are identical to Fords (and no, they dont look nicer. its the same shit) but mercury has a higher price tag attached to it. might as well keep it simple and off an entry level vehicle and also a premium version of it so you dont have to produce a new nameplate etc. What Ford fucked up on was having the SHO/MKS with similar price points. At least they look very different fro meach other and the SHO has more power. SHO is less sticker price but if you lease, the MKS turns out to be less per month since the Lincoln has a higher residual value. Also the SHO has a very good rep to its nameplate. Ford had Yamaha make engines for the 2010 SHO but they had issues with a lack of power and passing emissions, so they did it themselves. _________________ ![]() ![]() "LoL I was a straight up fucking STUD in Battlefield" - Blade |
